It’s time for Geometry Class, kiddos. Lynda has a challenge for us to use hexagons and triangles on our Friday Mashup # 148 project this week.
1. Create a project with “Hexagons”.
2. Create a project with “Triangles”.
or
3. Create a project with “Hexagons and Triangles”.
I do love clean lines and geometric patterns but it took me a while to come up with something. Make sure you check out what the Design Team came up with this week- inspiring! I looked for a sketch challenge to help me out and found Retrosketches # 102 .
Here is what I came up with…can’t wait to see yours!
P.S. My husband just said this is the ugliest card he has ever seen…hmmm…I hope someone likes it;(
Card Recipe:
STAMPS: SU Six-Sided Sampler
INK: SU Coastal Cabana, SU Real Red
PAPER: SU Real Red, SU Crumb Cake, SU Coastal Cabana, SU Whisper White, SU Fresh Prints Paper Stack
ACCESSORIES: SU Brights Designer Button (last catalog), Twine
TOOLS: SU Hexagon Punch, CB Hexagon EF
I really like it, Cindy! Great job of combining the hexagons and triangles!
You are too kind, Kristie. Thanks for the encouragement…I may live to make another card….hugs!
Hi Cindy, The card is a good show of the kraft and red plus a little blue. I’ve always loved this combination of colors and like the balance of your card. Hard to say what someone else will “like”. I think it is a good masculine card for someone other than your husband!
Thank you, Evelyn. It is a little different than I usually do but hey, not everyone likes everything! lol
Absolutely NOT ugly! I love the candy dots on the bottom right and the layers of hexagons behind the sentiment. I think it’s fab!
Tara, thanks so much. I know it is different but it was a challenge. He LOVED yours! So, you made the cut!
Love your card Cindy. The colors are so pretty and great way to incorporate both triangles and hexagons.
Thanks, JoAnn for stopping by and leaving me kind words.
Oh my gosh, I’m sorry, but that really made me laugh, Cindy! And I (emphasized) like it! Judging from the comments, I’m not the only one. I love aqua, red, and kraft together and I love your design. This is a challenging challenge! (And stop asking your Mister what he thinks, lol!) Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs, Darnell
Jim told me not to post what he said but I was laughing when he said it…and it was one hour before I had to post so the show went on…I am still laughing, too!
Just a reminder that art is subjective & it’s OK we don’t all like the same thing. I love the color combo & think you did a great job using both triangles & hexagons. What a fun challenge–may check it out if there’s still time.
You are so right, Greta! I often see that with my likes and dislikes with design and colors. Thanks for your encouraging words;)
I think we should put your hubby and my hubby in the same corner LOL My hubby is very frank with his opinions also and needless to say I don’t always agree with his assessments 😉
In this case I think your hubby is off base. The sketch was a tough one and you did a great job with it! The triangles of the DSP and the hexagons of the embossing folder are both able to shine because they each have their space to shine, and it works wonderfully!
Sorry Mr.Bee, you’re out voted on this one 🙂
Oh my, Lisa…I have been calling Jim- Mr. Bee all week! You are too funny…I ended up liking the card in the end. Thanks for your encouraging words;)
Fun take on the sketch. I love the popped up elements and dimensions!
Thanks, Heidi. Now, that the challenge is over, I have had tons of ideas!
