SU World of Dreams with Thoughts and Prayers

February 16, 2015

Happy Monday, Peeps!

Just a quick Monday card today using Freshly Made Sketches #173.

FMS Final 173-001

I was playing around with the SU World of Dreams stamp set over the weekend for another project and had this “leftover” so I put it to good use. When I need some inspiration when creating a card,  I use google images to jumpstart my creativity. Just google the stamp set name and a plethora of ideas come up! Another way to get my creative juices flowing is to follow a sketch like this one. It gives me a starting point that helps me along in the process of finishing a card. I really liked this CAS one. I literally made my card in record time which is good because the hubby is waiting to take me on a little trip…so excited!

SU Kinda Eclectic Screen Card

February 13, 2015

Happy beginning to the Valentine’s Day weekend!

The hubby and I are starting off the weekend with a Marriage Seminar at our church tonight and then all day tomorrow.  And, I am so excited I get to see all three of my kiddos at some time this weekend, too:)

But before all the plans start…I wanted to play along with the

Stampin’ Up Only Challenges # 116 – a shaped card!

suofanblinkie

We are supposed to think outside of a “rectanglar or square box.” Although, my card has a somewhat rectangular shape, if you trace around it- it has cut outs on the bottom and rounded corners on each panel so I hope it counts as a non-traditional “shaped” card!

SU Kinda Eclectic Middle Screens

SU Kinda Eclectic Last Screen

I modified this screen card from the ones you may have seen floating around these days. I used a 5 1/2″ by 12″ piece of cardstock instead of 11″. This extra inch allowed me to fit the sentiment in the last screen! I scored the Crumb Cake card base at 3″, 6″, and 9″ to create the four paneled card. My Chocolate Chip borders are 2 3/4″ x 4 1/2″, and the Very Vanilla stamped panels are 2 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ . I essentially used the beautiful SU Kinda Eclectic stamped set, and added in the SU Choose Happiness (bird), and the SU Six-Sided Sampler for the first sentiment (hello, sweet friend). I added some crochet trim, pearls, and a clip to add some textural details.

To make the feet of the card, I used the SU Decorative Label Punch. Having the 3″ panels also made it easy to just slip the punch half way up and keep the sides of the punch flush with each side of the panel. In the end, each panel easily ended up the same size without measuring anything. You can also punch the first two and the last two panels at the same time.

*TIP: Add the stamped panels to the card base before punching in case you need to modify the depth of the punch on each panel. However, I think you will do just fine if you leave the same amount of Crumb Cake border on the top of the Chocolate Chip panel as you would on the sides of each panel.

SU Mini Treat Bag with Groovy Love

February 4, 2015

LOVE is in the air everywhere!

I created a sweet Mini-Treat Bag Valentine this week, and wanted to share it

with you and everyone at Stampin’ Up Only Challenges.

SUO Challenge # 115 VALENTINE’S WISHES

suofanblinkie

SU Mini Treat Bag Groovy Kind of Love!

I used Melon Mambo cardstock to create this project made with the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die Set. I die cut the heart out of the front at the same time I cut the larger portion of the treat bag. I then added a piece of 3″ x 3″ acetate on the inside to cover the heart opening. Once it was all put together, I ran it through the Big Shot using the Happy Hearts Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

SU Mini Treat BagGroovy Love

I finished it off with additional dies from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits- the pennant banner scored at 1″ on one side and the heart I already die cut. I stamped  the heart image from the SU Groovy Love stamp set and used the Bitty Banners framelits to cut out the stamped sentiment. The stamped heart was punched out with the Heart Punch. I popped up the stamped heart and the die cut heart off the white banner and layered some sweet little hearts from the SU Pictogram Punches stamp set under the bigger hearts. I just stamped two of each little heart and put white baker’s twine between them with a Tombow glue.

I used the nifty ergonomically easy SU Handheld Stapler to attach the little hearts to the banner and bag. For some reason, I never have any luck using a traditional stapler on cards but the new SU one just “works” for me. Yea!
