Sneak Peek Stampin’ UP! Etched in Nature

April 30, 2021

The design for this card started out with some strips of wood grain from the In Good Taste Designer Series that were laying on my desk. I adhered the strips on a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Early Espresso- one on the top and the bottom, and one on each side. Then I added it to a Basic Black card base. That left me with a blank rectangular space in the middle that I put a Very Vanilla Stitched Rectangle over. Now, I started my search for something to put on the rectangle…seriously, I had no idea what I was going to put there! I was just determined to use those strips! With everything in my craft room, I was fixated on those strips…I did not even have to trim them:)

My search lead me to a NEW stamp set coming out in the Stampin’ UP! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. So, you get a sneak peek of Etched in Nature stamp set. Take a look at the images…could have been called Sketched in Nature but I think that name was already taken:) I made this card for my virtual swap for demonstrators at our online ONTour Event this month.

Since the images were reminiscent of a nature sketch book, I just went with an all natural look on the card. Ok, I must come clean, my coloring skills were not up to par so I just want with the sketched look. I did try to color the wren but it looked preeee-tty bad. I can’t wait to see others color the wren! I just LOVE the sentiment! Isn’t it great?

Popping up the Very Vanilla Stitched Rectangle, the Basic Black Stitched Circle and the bird with Dimensionals stepped up this super clean and simple card. Even if my coloring was not up to snuff, I did a decent job with my fussy cutting…heeheehee. I am still loving those Black Matte Dots…happy they will be in the NEW Annual Catalog that comes out on May 4, 2021.

Thanks for buzzing by, friends…
