Happy Friday, friends. You should definitely play along this week with us at the Friday Mashup #164.
Lynda asked us to:
1. Create a project for “Father’s Day or that special guy in your life.”
2. Create a project with “Stamping on anything other than Card Stock.”
or
3. Mash it Up! and create a “Father’s Day project with Stamping on anything but Card Stock.”
I am sorry I did not mash it up this week but I did get the Father’s Day card done and ready for my dad! (By the way, my mom did get her Mother’s Day card after all- she just forgot she put it away to save it!- Silly girl)
I used the SU In the Wild stamp set- I had my eye on it for quite some time and finally got it. It is a lovely sketchy lined stamp but needs something to go with it. I saw a few people watercoloring around it and thought the new SU Work of Art stamp set could do the job for me! So I inked it up with Wild Wasabi, then Crumb Cake, and finally Soft Sky to mimic the ground, the animal, and the sky. Then I stamped the moose in Chocolate Chip ink.
I finished it off with some matching banners stamped from the SAB 2014 Banner Blast set. I am so happy there are two other sets set called Banner Banter and Itty Bitty Baby in the new catalog that coordinate with the cute little banner punch. I also embellished the banners with some random metal brads.
The photopolymer sentiment came from the May Paper Pumpkin- another stamp that came with it has Happy Birthday on it. We made this card in class and both sentiments were used by my gals.
I really hope you find time to play along with the Friday Mashup this week! Make sure to check out what the Design Team has created for inspiration.
Oh Cindy! I LOVE how you combined two stamps I would have never thought would go together! GENIUS! I’m completely inspired! That work of art is so versatile – like gorgeous grunge. Love how you made it grass, earth and sky! You are a creative queen!
Thanks, Jodi. I think that set may become indispensible….
Love this card. The stamp and colors are perfect! B
Thank you, Bernadette. My dad loved it- up on the fireplace!
Love love love! The moose stamp is my favorite and you used it wonderfully here! I wasn’t really feeling the Work of Art set but that I think you just changed my mind with this card. The colors are terrific!
Right now the moose are having their babies and we are seeing a lot of the “older” siblings being pushed on their own. We had a mama and a baby feeding back behind our property the other night and last night my husband saw a young moose along the highway by our house, kneeling down and feeding on some vegetation. I just adore the moose!
Thank you so very much, Lisa. I just loved the one you did a ways back- gorgeous. The swishes make watercoloring easy! Thanks for sharing your Moose sightings- how amazing it must be to live there and see them:)
Your card is beautiful, Cindy! Father’s Day cards make me cry. I miss my Daddy so much. He has been gone 2 years now. I love the watercoloring and the colors are perfect. The little banners are the perfect touch! XX
Thank you, Claire. I am so sorry to hear you are missing your dad. Mine has been gone for a while but the Lord blessed me with another awesome one I am so happy to have in my adult life. Doubly blessed:)
I absolutely love what you’ve done with the background, Cindy! So clever with the blue-sky, brown-moose and green-grass combo. The banners are a great touch too. Awesome!
Thank you, Tara. I saw some watercoloring that way but thaought hey, that stamp would be fool-proof!
I really like your card Cindy! I like how you matched the color of your banners to the color to the colors of your main image. The added candy dots to your banners is the perfect touch! Great job!
Thanks, Avery. I may be making these in bulk for convention swaps so I better get moving!
