Holly’s Friday Mashup # 190 Challenge was right up my alley.
Create a project using the “Sketch.”
Create a “2 – layer card with a grungy element in the background.”
or Mash it Up!
and create a project “using the sketch that’s only 2 – layers.”
I love how this turned out. It’s only 2-layers- the card base and the butterfly- but I gave it dimension and detail by sponging on the So Saffron/Calypso Coral rectangle that was in the sketch challenge. I created a mask and sponged inside it:
I then covered the sponged rectangle and used the SU Gorgeous Grunge stamp to add the other sketch element on each side of sponged rectangle but not on the rectangle itself. I think it really made a different look instead of just layering the ink with the grunge stamp directly on the sponged rectangle. It looks like the rectangle is a layer. I used the distressed honeycomb image to add another inked layer of Crumb Cake. A simple Pistachio Pudding fern image added some more color for the beautiful Butterfly die cut to flutter on! A few scattered pearls add just enough embellishment and won’t inhibit mailing this card.
I can never have enough butterflies! And this SU Butterfly Basics stamp set will be bundled with the Butterflies Thinlits at a 15% discount in the NEW Occasions catalog that goes live on January 6, 2015. I can see a lot of this set in my future…
Love the layers you’ve created…really effective…and like you, I love butterflies as well.
Gorgeous. Love that pretty butterfly.
Awesome card – can’t wait to get those stamps and thinlits – on their way 🙂 Hey – Loooove the new look of your site! Merry Christmas Cindy!
