For our stamping night this month, the girls and I played around with the Thumping Technique using the SU Swallowtail and Papillon Potpourri. I have seen this done on a few different sites after the Spring 2013 Catalog came out. I especially liked the colors Frenchie used- Sahara Sand, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, and Tempting Turquoise. It is quite a simple technique to do but has a WoW factor. Just ink your stamp, and while it is still inked and wet, thump different markers- like they were drumsticks- on the rubber stamp. Then huff on it and stamp the image. It’s foolproof and every one is unique. I liked the sentiments with the SU I Am set- it just reminded me of the perfect word to describe a butterfly and a special friend- beautiful.
This is breathtaking, Cindy, and what a fun technique. I’ve never heard of it before and feel like it is one of those “why didn’t I think of that?” ideas! It is absolutely perfect for this stamp ~ which, yippee, I happen to have and have not inkied!!
Thank you, Darnell. It is so easy…I changed my instructions-” ink your stamp and while it is still wet, thump with markers and then stamp the image.” NOW, go have some fun and let me see what you come up with!
