I was so taken with my friend Tara Bourgoin’s shaker card on the Friday Mashup a few weeks ago- you can see it HERE. Her card inspired me to make one myself. I changed it up  by adding a few more birdies, embossing the panel with Decorative Dots EF to create falling snow, and adding some Soft Sky marker accents on the snow drifts and around the sentiment. I decorated the inside of the card inspired by  some of my gals who did it at class last week. I added SU Dazzling Diamonds and Frosted Sequins to the inside of my shaker circle. I used Cherry Cobbler Blendabiliities to color the birdies and used the same color for the cardstock and sentiment.

I used a 1 1/4″ circle punch to cut out the circle on the front panel after I embossed it. I then turned it over and put adhesive around the circle and adhered a 2″ square piece of acetate. I then stamped the snowman in the middle of a 2″ circle and adhered a 1 1/4″ shaker frame leaving the top adhesive covering in place. Since the shaker frames come in different sizes you can go up to the largest size but will need to add a little more glitter/sequins items to the shaker frame.

After adhering the shaker frame, add some shaker stuff like glitter, sequins, or beads to the inside of the shaker frame. You can be generous with the glitter since it does sink down to the bottom of the circle. After the glitter/sequins are added, carefully remove the adhesive covering and adhere the embossed panel with the acetate attached onto the shaker frame. Make sure the snowman is standing upright- I learned from experience after my snowman was standing on his head!

This card was SUPER quick to make! I just love how easy it is to stamp with the photopolymer stamps especially when creating a scene. However, I hate it when I do not see a little piece of lint that seems to cling to the photopolymers more than red rubber, and then I stamp with it and see it on the image! So, I have found that rinsing my photopolymers under running water after I use them patting them with a lint free cloth keeps them lint free.

  1. Oh my gosh, between you & Tara, I am in awe every time I see her or your cards!!! This is just adorable. I can’t do “scenes” to save myself, but after seeing how cute this is, I am tempted to try out this set! Wish it would carry over to next year so I could get some extra mileage from it, LOL! Just the cutest thing ever!

  2. I LOVE this shaker! This stamp set is the only one I bought from the Christmas catalog [how many do we really need? I have many from last year that I haven’t even used yet!!!]. I’ve GOT to do this! Thanks for the inspiration.
