Valentine’s Day

SU Message in a Bottle

April 11, 2018

I made a quick card with the cutest stamp set, SU Message in a Bottle.
I had it on my desk as I was using it for another project and
thought the colors would go with The Paper Players # Challenge #388.

Just simple and quick… and remember Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant are retiring…
get refills and cardstock if you need them!
I used the water ripples from the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set:)

Well, this simple and quick card would have been quicker if I had not literally put inky paws three times on the card as I was finishing it off- and in places where I could not creatively embellish, ever have one of those days?

Check out how super cute the images and sentiments are in this stamp set:

SU Apron of Love

February 7, 2018

Claire has a Valentine theme this week at The Paper Players # 379.

I think Valentine’s Day should be celebrated every day and in every way!
Let’s never miss an opportunity to share our love with a special thanks to a friend!

I made another checkered bottom on my card but this time with a white background! Just adhere five 3/4″ black squares to the bottom of the Whisper White 3-3/4″ x 5″ panel. I used a lot of the dies from the Apron Builder Framelits for this card- the apron, the neck strap, the waist ties, the oven mitt, the pockets, the baking utensils, the trim on the bottom of the apron, and even the hearts. What a super bundle! I think this card can be unisex, too.  Add in those BBQ tools- the classic red and black fits both guys and gals! Just stamp DAD on the apron, and you have a Valentine for him or a Father’s Day card!

Those sweet little hearts go with the SU Only Challenges #193 Hearts a Plenty
so I am sharing it over there, too:)

SU Petal Palette Marina Mist

February 2, 2018

Happy Friday, friends!

I took a little liberty  with Cecile’s  Freshly Made Sketches Challenge # 322
and interpreted the sketch with an oval as the focal point on my card.

I also decided to share it with Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge #135  “All You Need is Love.”

I used a soft yet bright at the same time color palette of
Marina Mist and Melon Mambo with Pear Pizzazz added in. Notice that this delicate feminine card has a blue chickadee, too! I colored the pearls in the middle of the flowers melon mambo using my Stampin’ Blends. I love how easy it is to color pearls and rhinestones with alcohol markers!

SU Barn Door with This Little Piggy

January 24, 2018

It will be Valentine’s Day before you know- one of the biggest card giving days! My mom is going to love this card…although she loves roosters the SU This Little Piggy stamp set is just too cute not to use with the SU Barn Door stamp set! Maybe I will use the rooster from SU Wood Words on her Barn Door birthday card…

I love the sliding mechanism made with the Sliding Door Framelits-
so easy to do! You put one message on the left side…

and slide it over to reveal another message on the right side.
I rounded the corners on the 2-1/2″ x 4″ Whisper White cardstock where I stamped the piggy.
I used Pool Party ink on the bow on the wreath because it was a bit darker than Soft Sky ink.

I am sharing it with The Paper Players Challenge # 337 – the theme of Love Notes:)

Here is a video from the SU Home Office where Brandi shows how
super easy it is to make a card with the Barn Door Bundle:

The Rarely seen Red-Bellied Chickadee…SU Petal Palette

January 19, 2018

You are about to see the rarely seen Red-Bellied Chickadee…
I say “rarely” because some other stamper may have colored the belly red!

I texted my friend (upline) Linda to ask her opinion on whether my red heart should be on the top or bottom, and she said on the bottom but she was “a little disturbed” by the red belly on the chickadee. Oh, it definitely is a chickadee but I reminded her that in the stamping world- “anything goes to make it coordinate.”

I don’t think I convinced Linda (aka the realist) of my chickadee/robin but she gave me
the green light to “go with my artistic gut”…

On the inside, I used two thinlits from the Petals and More Thinlits that are similar
to the ones on the Petal Passion DSP along with the Happy Birthday sentiment
from the new SU Beautiful Day stamp set.

I am sharing this card with Freshly Made Sketches # 320.
