I just had to make a Christmas poinsettia card so I pulled out my Nature’s Root Dies and made one. They really look like poinsettia leaves! I am imaging them in white and pink, too. And after getting a swap in the mail using the gorgeous sentiment in the Greatest Part of Christmas Host set, I could not wait to use it! I love big bold sentiments, don’t you?
I remember stampers using the leaf stamps and the dies to create poinsettias last year when the Rooted by Nature stamp set was released. I thought, oh my gosh, I can’t die cut all those leaves!!! And, that would be after I had embossed them all! So, I thought, maybe just fussy cut them with scissors? YES, and it was so easy…actually, my scissors just glided along the embossed groove that made the outline of the leaf. I mean, it was almost like I could have done it with my eyes closed…well, not really…but you get the point. I had them all cut lickety-split! I mean, it was really easy, friends:)
I found it easier to create the two layers of red flowers by adhering each leaf to a main cardstock circle so I had a base in the middle with the leaves going around it like rays of the sun. First, I made the larger layered flower with a circle under it to place dimensionals on, and then I did the same with the smaller flower with a smaller circle under it to attach dimensionals as well. I then adhered the layered poinsettia to the card and slipped in the green leaves. The Subtle embossing folder is perfect to finish off a plain panel on a card…just the right touch:) Of course, stamp first then emboss…and you may want to do a quick cleaning swipe across the inside of the embossing folder in case any ink transferred onto it. That has happened to me before:(
