I have been stepping on acorns everywhere as I walk in both Pittsburgh and Orlando these last two months. I can’t keep my grandpuppies out of them! And, boy do they jump when one pops down on them:)
Here’s a pic of the little rascals, Archie and Lucy.

Those dancing acorns got me to thinking of the cute SU Acorny Thanks stamp set…got me to perusing Pinterest…lead me to a neat card by my friend, Patsy Waggoner, who I got to meet and hang out with on a trip last year:)

You can see how I changed up the colors using some fun colors that were asking to be used, added some embossing on the die cut panel, and used a different sentiment but the layout Patsy created was just so great I went with it!  I love the grateful sentiment in the set but seem to always need birthday cards so I used the Happy Birthday sentiment from Thoughtful Banners cut out with the Classic Label punch.

SU Sitting Here with Sheltering Tree

May 29, 2016

I played around with the new Stampin’ Up Sitting Here stamp set this weekend. Oh, I just love photopolymer stamps- so crisp and clean and easy to stamp.  I made a canopy of trees and added some blades of grass with the SU Sheltering Tree stamp set to finish out my summer scene.

I used a color pallette of Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry, and Pumpkin Pie. My doggie is Tip Top Taupe- still wondering about the color of my pooch???

I added some dimension to the card by popping up the circular and the square pillow after running my scoring tool around the edges of the back of the images while I had it lying on my piercing mat.  So many fun ideas are swimming around in my head but this simple design just makes me smile:)

I have a feeling this will be a favorite set in the new catalog…what do you think?

SU Sheltering Tree Fall Easel Card

September 21, 2015

Good Monday to you all!

I saw that Laurie’s challenge over at The Paper Players #263 calls for a FALL card.

pp263

Well, I just happened to have one up my sleeve since I used the SU Sheltering Tree to create an easel card to show one of my friends how to make one!

To achieve the colorful leaves, I inked up my tree foliage with Daffodil Delight ink and then added Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive ink with finger sponge daubers in different places. I also did that with the little “flowers” that are included in the set so that I had some fallen leaves on the ground.

SU Sheltering Tree showing easel

For this easel card, I took a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock and scored it at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2.  I then folded it at 5 1/2″ like I would for a standard card. Then I just folded up the 2 3/4″ part to create the easel. I cut another 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Chocolate Chip panel that I adhered to the 2 3/4″ part of the easel after I had stamped the tree on a 3 3/4″ x 5″ Very Vanilla panel bordered by a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Pumpkin Pie panel. *TIP- when adhering the stamped tree panel, put your adhesive on the 2 3/4″ part of the easel not the panel so you won’t have any adhesive showing.

After stamping my bottom (inside) panel with the same measurements as the other panel, I placed my button with a sturdy glue dot so that the easel could sit up against it. You can place your easel mechanism anywhere you want, on this particular card, I left ample space for writing.

I have not decided yet what kind of card this will be or where I will put the sentiment so I left it blank for now. I do that often, how about you?

SU Sheltering Tree

September 2, 2015

I looked out the window here in Pittsburgh and saw the colors changing on the trees and was reminded of the beautiful SU Sheltering Tree stamp set. I have never posted a card using this set so I made a “last days of summer” card.

It just so happens that Stampin’ Up Only Challenges # 130 has a FRIEND theme so I added the sweet sentiment about friendship found in the set.

SU Sheltering Tree OliveRed

I used a color palette of Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Real Red, and Early Espresso. The main Very Vanilla panel is 3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″ bordered 1/8″ larger with the Espresso and Red borders. My sentiment banner is 1/2″ bordered by 5/8″ Espresso. I like the look of thin borders:)

FYI: Sheltering Tree was carried over into the current annual catalog from last spring but in case you have not taken a serious look at it…here it is!
