Inspired yet again…

I remember when I started stamping decades ago there was not a forum to share ideas and techniques. Now…WOW, I can get lost on the computer or my phone for hours looking at all the wonderful cards and projects shared online. Here is a fun card created by Nina Janssen that was shared on my upline’s Demo Facebook group:

I thought it was soooo cute and changed it up a bit. I used Real Red as my color and made the card base red to make the card pop! I also used some of the Holiday Fancy Foil Vellum DSP (now you know where the snowflakes were used)  and a slightly different sentiment…I even dotted my J!

A few of my stamping girls opted to have the entire penguin popped off the card- it was equally adorable with his cute little pumpkin pie penguin feet!

Design Tip: To avoid any “see through” adhesive on the vellum

I first put an entire 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Whisper White on the front of the card. I then cut two strips of Whisper White, one 1″ x 4″ x 5 1/4″ and the other one 1 1/2″ x 4″ x 5 1/4″. I added 1/4″ strips of red to one edge of the 1″ and the 1 1/2″ strips of Whisper White. The top strip has red on the bottom and the bottom strip has red on the top. I then added adhesive to the bottom part of the back of the top strip and adhered it to the vellum strip (2″ x 5 1/4″). Now, add adhesive to the upper portion of the back of the top strip that has the vellum attached and line it up with the top edge of the white panel on the front of the card. Now, add adhesive to the entire back of the bottom strip. *Before you add this strip to the bottom of the card, you tuck in the penguin. Again, line up the bottom of the lower 1 1/2″ strip against the lower edge of the white panel and lay down the strip which will meet up with and adhere to the lower edge of the vellum.

NO ADHESIVE SHOWS THROUGH THE VELLUM!

The white panel allows a great backdrop for the vellum with the silver snowflakes. Do not put the strips together with the vellum without using the white panel as a guide  as I described because it most likely will not fit. A few gals did that- but Cindy Bee buzzed by and fixed it up!

A Fun Weekend!

October 12, 2015

Imagine being invited to a women’s long weekend retreat where you get to share a home with 9 women who have been friends forever stamping, shopping, eating, sharing, worshiping, and praying for each other. That is exactly what I was blessed with this past weekend. A lovely group of women I have met through stamping invited me along on their special weekend.

Our fearless and miraculous leader and Queen of Bling, Donna and I:

I knew 3 of the ladies previously but got to know all the other incredible women with unique lives over the last five days. I am so very thankful they included me as I was tremendously blessed by their warm personalities. We had devotions every morning, dinners every night, and even took in a show at the amazing Sight and Sound’s production of Joseph-
a wonderful reminder of the power of forgiveness and love…

We stayed at  The Scrap Pad in Dover, PA that is run by Pat and Heather Jordan. Yes, a house totally devoted to stamping and scrapping.

By the second day, I literally thought I had died and went to heaven and lived with nine other friends I passed in the kitchen on the way to the craft room.

We bunked with each other seeing who snored the loudest and who didn’t! Our living room had 10 big tables for each of us to work at over the days we were there. I must have cut over well over 3000 pieces of paper as I prepared for my upcoming Christmas Stamp-a-Stack this weekend. However, it was light work with the comraderie of the others crafting away in my big living room!

We all took a break from each of our own crafting projects on Friday night when Pat held a class for us. Here are 3 of the cards she had packaged and ready for us to make: one using the SU The Wilderness Awaits stamp set and the Bohemian embossing folder,

one using the SU Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set and the Brick Wall embossing folder,

and a fun Christmas card using the SU Snow Place stamp set
with the SU Snow Friends framelits.

The icing on the cake is I got to end my weekend stopping off in Washington, DC to have a birthday dinner with my middle son on his actual 25th birthday!

What a blessing he is to me:)
