SU Summer Silhouettes

SU Summer Silhouettes with A Dozen Thoughts

I finally got to play cards with the MUSE gang this week. Marion has a fun card for inspiration for Challenge #54 . I am sure you can see how I was inspired by its design and colors.

My card looks simple (and it is) but I must have stamped that lattice from SU Summer Silhouettes six times! Each time I did something goofy like drop the acrylic block or touch it before it was dry. But in the end, my Stamp-a-ma-Jig pulled me through, and it all came together.

SU Summer Silhouettes

So, the hubby decided to renovate his “lil fishing cabin on the Allegheny River near Pittsburgh this summer. This has  turned into a complete overhaul of the three room cabin- a bedroom/bath, living room and kitchen- one thing leads to another- when he upgraded the electric, he had to rip out the walls. When he ripped out the walls, he needed to change the floor and the list goes on. In the end, he ended up rewiring, drywalling, painting, and decided to put in an actual kitchen with nice hardwood floors. Our kids have enjoyed this little cabin with their friends all through college- of course, when it was a dumpy place. Now, mom and dad are going to enjoy it as well! Jim has been gone all week at camp so I decided to go up and visit. I thought while he worked, I could get some card swaps done. I packed up all my necessary stamping supplies and off I went. Once I got there with all my clear mount stamps, I found I out I forgot my acrylic blocks!!! I almost started to cry. Jim, my carpenter in shining armor, quickly came to the rescue…

I was happy to have my stamps temporarily mounted and could finish up my MUSE Card Club #31 submission.

But, I forgot it had to be posted by Monday morning. Ugh…no internet out here. But somehow, I was able to tether my laptop to Jim’s iPhone and get it loaded up! What would I do without him?

Sorry about the lighting, I was working with a temporary lightbulb dangling from the kitchen ceiling.

SU Summer Silhouettes

What a fun time I had last night with my stamping friends- we all had dinner and class with our friend, Stacey Ailes. She prepared some beautiful cards for us, and I got to use the sweet SU Summer Silhouettes stamp set. I love it!   I like how she showed us to use a white gel pen to accent the smaller flowers. I was inspired to  design a card using this set and decided the ColourQ Challenge # 194 was a great starting point. I did not have any SU Poppy Parade ink but I did have some Poppy Parade Polka Dot DSP so I used it to ground my image. The think the SU firm foam ink pads stamp darker than my old  linen ones and this time was no exception- it looks as if the DSP and the lacey flower are the same color! But, those flowers are indeed Calypso Coral.  I used another new favorite sentiment from the new catalog found in the SU Simply Sketched set- a hostess gift with a qualifying order.
