SU Simply Sketched

Sara has a watercoloring color challenge for us this week at the Friday Mashup # 153 . You can use aqua painters, blender pens or any other tools to create a watercolor effect. You can mash it up by using Perfect Plum, Wild Wasabi, and Daffodil Delight.

SU Simply Sketched with Strawberry Slush

By now, you have probably guessed that SU Simply Sketched is my favorite set in the new catalog! Actually, I may have told you that already.  I wanted to play around with the flower in the set and use some new  favorites also in the new catalog – Strawberry Slush from the In Colors 2013-15  and Quatrefancy DSP.  Here is what I came up with using the layout at Freshly Made Sketches # 93  and the Tic-Tac-Toe grid from Amy’s  The Friday Mash-Up # 117 – Pearls, Ribbon, Flowers …

SU Simply Sketched Mashup!

Below is  a pic of the card before I added the pearls- I like them both but think the pearls added a touch of  fancy to my black tie card. What do you think?

OH GOLLY, IT LOOKS LIKE OTTAWAMOM AND I ARE THINKING ON THE SAME WAVELENGTH. I LITERALLY TOOK A GLANCE AT BOTH SITES BEFORE I POSTED- THEN HAD TO TAKE A DELIVERY AT MY DOOR AND WHEN I POSTED- MY CARD WENT RIGHT NEXT TO BRENDA’S ON BOTH SITES…LOL! NEEDLESS TO SAY, I LOVE YOUR CARD, BRENDA!!

SU Simply Sketched Blue Bird Birthday

I love when a card challenge has a game to play! This week, LeAnne at The Paper Players # 152 gave us a bunch of choices with her tic-tac-toe grid. I just love the SU Simply Sketched Hostess Set and have been using the sentiments with a lot of different sets. However, this time I am using the perched birdie  in the grass and a sentiment from another great Hostess Set- Express Yourself. I got out my blender pens, some watercolor paper, and pretended I was a watercolor artist. I love how SU products enable anyone to be an artist…even me!

SU Secret Garden and SU Simply Sketched

I used my first piece of DSP from the new  SU catalog today! Do you ever find yourself  reluctant to cut into DSP  because it is so pretty?  I really like a lot of the prints in the Gingham Garden especially the Island Indigo. I paired it up with the SU Secret Garden stamp set and a sentiment from Simply Sketched (again, love it!). I used The Paper Players # 151 sketch to lay out the card. Hope you enjoy the deep, bright colors;)

SU Summer Silhouettes

What a fun time I had last night with my stamping friends- we all had dinner and class with our friend, Stacey Ailes. She prepared some beautiful cards for us, and I got to use the sweet SU Summer Silhouettes stamp set. I love it!   I like how she showed us to use a white gel pen to accent the smaller flowers. I was inspired to  design a card using this set and decided the ColourQ Challenge # 194 was a great starting point. I did not have any SU Poppy Parade ink but I did have some Poppy Parade Polka Dot DSP so I used it to ground my image. The think the SU firm foam ink pads stamp darker than my old  linen ones and this time was no exception- it looks as if the DSP and the lacey flower are the same color! But, those flowers are indeed Calypso Coral.  I used another new favorite sentiment from the new catalog found in the SU Simply Sketched set- a hostess gift with a qualifying order.
