SU Thanksgiving Card

SU Country Home

September 27, 2018

Today is my mom’s birthday, and the image on this card is so fitting.

We had a milk can my mom refurbished way back when I was a kiddo.
It sat in a corner of the kitchen, and it was the “extra” chair pulled up when we needed it.
I sent my mom her birthday card over the weekend, and then made this card on Monday.
Now, I wish I had made this into her birthday card! She would have gotten a kick out of it:)

I used the new Tin Tile Embossing Folder for the Smoky Slate background panel.
I then sponged it lightly with Basic Gray ink.
I used the my Stampin’ Blends- Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, and Crumb Cake.
Of gosh, I missed two little green leaves on the image…will have to fix that!
Of course, I ran the image through the Subtle Embossing Folder- my favorite technique!
It’s just the perfect way to add a little something to finish off a card.

I even did something on the inside- ask my girls, I always forget to finish off the inside on class cards…lol.

Thanks for buzzing by, friends…

SU Seasonal Lantern

September 22, 2017

I was intrigued with the SU Seasonal Lantern when I first saw it in the Holiday Catalog. I just got it and had so much fun putting together a fall themed card great for Thanksgiving time that will be here before we know it!

I am sharing it with the crew over at The Paper Players for

LeAnne’s Harvest Theme Challenge # 362.

I used the gorgeous Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper to create a cool fall feeling to the card but the splash of Lemon Lime Twist really brightens up the card. I love to design a card around the colors palette in the paper- makes designing so much easier. I played around with adding in some copper and gold foil but in the end, I went with just cardstock. I cut the Very Vanilla embossed panel to be 3″ x 5-1/2″ with a border of Early Espresso that is 3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. I think the embossed panel is a great background for the lantern to sit upon, don’t you?

I can’t wait to make some Christmas lanterns…

SU Vintage Leaves with Lighthearted Leaves

August 28, 2015

Hello long lost friends…I am still here…busy, busy, busy but I do have a fall card to post today! I have been playing around with some sponging techniques and had a piece leftover that fit wonderfully into the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #201 this week.

FMS Final 201-001

I used the SU Vintage Leaves along with a sentiment from the new SU Lighthearted Leaves stamp set. I forgot how gold can just add that special touch to a card. I also added a some Crystal Effects to the  outline and the veining on the leaves to add a little something.
Definitely a difficult card to photograph to capture the embossing but I think it shows up.

Why don’t I wet emboss more often? It looks so cool. I still get all giddy when I see the powder change before my eyes! Do you emboss a lot or tend to forget like me?
