Baby Shower

SU Playful Pals and #3 Craft Project Central April 2016

April 7, 2016

My mother-in-law asked if I “might” have an elephant baby shower card…

Well, let me see what I can come up with I told her…

I saw more than a few cards on Pinterest showing this cutie-pa-tootie elephant peeking through leaves. I played around with the SU Playful Pals stamp set and its coordinating Pyramid Pals framelits, the Botanical Builders framelits with the Botanical Blooms stamps, and added some Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper and made this lickety-split.

SU Playful Pals with Botanical Blooms Elephant

I just LOVE the sentiment from SU Suite Sayings. This stamp set is a GREAT one to cover a lot of needs in cardmaking. Just this week, I used three of the sentiments on a baby card, a wedding card, and a graduation card, not to mention an Easter card recently.

I see a Mother’s Day card in the making, too.

Time for Mom SP

Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Why not create a beautiful gift for your favorite mom – one that she can use as well as admire? This tutorial will show you how to create a custom clock using the beautiful Botanical Blooms Bundle. You’ll create a pop-up bouquet card to let the recipient know how special she is. You’ll also learn how to create Dazzling Details in any of the exclusive Stampin’ Up!® colors. This set would make a fun class or stamp camp – and it’s a gift you can give any time of the year. Simply change the designer series paper and cardstock colors and it will work for a birthday or wedding gift, Christmas, Valentine’s Day or other holidays.

SU Zoo Babies with Teeny Tiny Wishes

May 24, 2015

Big Day at the Brumbaugh house today- oldest son is moving back to Orlando for a job, and we are doing the final walk-through for his condo closing today, and we are also picking up the keys to my daughter’s first apartment only about 10 minutes from her big brother. You know what that means? Yes, I will be moving them in for the next week! But before the chaos starts in a few hours, I wanted to share a baby card I played around with yesterday using the colors from ColourMe Challenge #72 this week.

I finally used my SU Zoo Babies stamp set – oh, it’s so cute! I paired it with the ever so useful SU Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set as well. A used a 1 3/8″circle punch to punch out my animals and bordered them with a 1 1/2″ circle framelit. I added a few little pennants cut from the Banner Framelits for the sentiment with a cute little heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents trio of punches. My DSP is 2″ x 5″ bordered by  2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ cardstock. This is an easy sketch to play with- try it with some other images- send me a photo of your work if you do…I love it when you do that!

To finish it off, I place a  few candy dots in the challenge colors- Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizzazz, and White (neutral) on the So Saffron card base. I used a nice Bermuda Bay print from the SU Brights Collection Color Stack- I can’t wait to get the new color stacks- they are so trendy.

I wish I could have used all the animals in the set- just look at that Giraffe, Elephant, and Rhino! Of course, I can’t leave out the sweet little monkey and toucan:)

Create a project with a “Baby Theme.

Create a project  with “Brown, Aqua & Tangerine.”

or Mash it Up! and create a “Baby project with the above colors.”

SU Something for Baby FM

I knew I wanted to use the SU Something for Baby stamp set with its adorable matching framelits. The colors from last year’s retired RetroFresh DSP fit the challenge perfectly. I was looking around for a baby sentiment and came across this AWESOME one in the SU Big News stamp set. I had overlooked it- it is so cute!!! The large sentiment  fit so well with the layout I was playing around with on the card front. Since the Paper Players #228 is all about the sentiment so I am sharing it over there.

I added a few Soft Suede candy dots, and I was happy:)

Create a Project with “Stitching (Sewing or Faux).”

Mash it up! and create a Project with “Vellum and Stitching.”

Grab a cup of something….I am going to get long winded

…thanks in advance for the therapy time, friends!

Now, I have to say…I really did attempt the “sewing on card stock” technique. My little RN was off of work and sat in my stamping room with me enjoying a good book while I played around with this challenge (priceless day). So, I have a witness that I got out the sewing machine, watched a few tutorials, and then attempted to sew on my card stock! Oh my, I changed up tensions and blah, blah, blah but all that needle did was make ugly holes in my paper and ball up on the opposite side of the paper. Ugh…

I was attempting to sew a vellum pocket like the card on p. 149 of the Annual Catalog and put some little circles in it. Well, since I could not get the sewing to work out for me, I decided to make a pocket with vellum and some SU Lullaby DSP using the SU Banner Framelits layered inside each other. I then added a little banner with  DSP and vellum just adhered directly to the banner. I added some circles to the outside of the vellum, too. But I still did not have any stitching on my card!!! I tried my white gel pen that would not cooperate with me, either.  So out came the Needlepoint Embossing Folders to the rescue. How did I end up spending so much time on a card? Once I started I just would not get it out of my head…
