SU Gentle Peace

SU Gentle Peace with Filigree Frame

Sara asked us to use the Diamond Dust technique

with a color challenge on our projects this week at the Friday Mashup # 185.

FM185

This week’s Mashup Challenge is:

Create a project using the “Diamond Dust Technique” a.k.a Iridescent Ice or Glittered Embossing Powder Technique.

Tutorial Here.

Create a project using the colors “Island Indigo, Garden Green & Rich Razzleberry
(or similar colors if you don’t have these exact colors.)

or Mash it Up!

Create a project “using the colors above and the Diamond Dust Technique.”

I have a bad habit of looking at my challenges as a Design Team member a few days before it is due. Though, I can cut it a little close on class weeks as I am preparing a lot!  This week it was one day ahead…can you believe just as I was ready to sit down and make my FM card,  I found out I used the Diamond Dust technique on one of my class cards  this week! Score…already done when I am running around setting up tables, running the sweeper, and cleaning toilets!

SU Gentle Peace with Filigree Frame

SU advertised the Gentle Peace stamp set with the Filigree Frame, and I loved it! I saw a few people blinging it up with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder so I set to coloring this classic stamp showing the “true meaning” of Christmas with my Blendabilities. It turned out so beautiful with the alcohol markers that I almost did not want to cover it in Versamark and the subsequent embossing powder! But in person, the glimmer is just wonderful- but difficult to capture with my photography skills.

SU Gentle Peace Diamond Dust

I wanted to use the lightest and the medium Coastal Cabana Blendabilities markers for more contrast on the window but alas….I did not put the cap on tightly and it was dry…learn from my mistake, crafters- YOU MUST HEAR THE CLICK! So, I used the Medium and Dark ones instead. This lead to using Bermuda Bay cardstock instead of Coastal Cabana. I added the black card base to mimic the black outline on the stained glass.

I even added a Diamond Dusted Star to the inside of the card.

SU Gentle Peace Inside

Here is my “Blend by Numbers” cheat sheet we used at class:

SU Gentle Peace Blend by Numbers

SU Gentle Peace Stamp by Numbers Close Up

SU Gentle Peace Blend by Numbers markers

1-Light Daffodil Delight, 2- Medium Daffodil Delight , 3- Med. Coastal Cabana, 4- Dark Coastal Cabana, 5- Light Cherry Cobbler , 6- Medium Cherry Cobbler , 7-Light Night of Navy , 8- Light Old Olive , 9- Nude , 10- Dark Crumb Cake , 11- Medium Crumb Cake

Yes, Baby Jesus’ face should be “9” like his parents, and Mary and Joseph’s hands should match their faces! My astute students at class noticed I forgot to mark one of the cheat sheets, and of course, that is the one I uploaded last night!

I sure hope you  play along and enjoy the glitter

that will adorn EVERYTHING in your path!

New Gentle Peace stamp set, Weekly Deals, and Blog Candy Winners

This month’s fabulous photopolymer stamp set release, Gentle Peace, was created by Stampin’ Up’s lead illustrator, Kathy Pitt. The set was designed to work with Blendabilities to create the effect of brightly-colored stained glass. I am thinking how pretty it will be done with vellum and Stampin’ Write Markers, too.  My heart leapt for joy when I saw this stamp set- so lovely- can’t wait to order it!!!

This stamp set will be available on October 14 !
