SU Kind and Cozy Watermelon Bookmark

One of the fun things that happens on a Design Team is the chatter on our private blog about what we have up our sleeves for everyone. At one point, we had “watermelon” in this challenge, and I designed a fun little bookmark for some summer reading. In the end, the colors and the wood element were finalized but my little quickie project still qualified for a Mash Up this week!

I went with the idea after I had made some favors for my stamping gals who attended class this week. Here is a peek at the SU Polka Dot Pieces bookmarks I made for my stampers who are so special to me:)

SU Kind and Cozy with Something to Say

Have you seen all the cute watermelon cards made from the SU Kind and Cozy gingham circle? I just could not resist making one with Retrosketches #121 .

Since the circle was the main focal point, I made a circular watermelon slice instead of a wedge slice. But, boy are the wedges cute!  I used the Itty Bitty Punch Pack four petaled flower for the seeds- I just cut them into a seed shape. My Hardwood stamped panel is 3 3/8 x 4 5/8, and the watermelon red is a 1 7/8″ circle. The grown kids are home for the summer, and we have been eating watermelon everyday so I think I will save this card to send to my son in Washington, DC in the dead of winter to cheer him up:)

The Hardwood stamped panel reminds me of a picnic table top so I thought it paired well with a big, juicy, cold slice of watermelon:) What do you think?

SU Kind and Cozy

I was in a simple kind of mood today…well, some might say I am kind of simple everyday! I intended to use some Gingham Garden DSP and then ended up liking the white space. Maybe I will try another later this week.  I also got a little off track with Anne Marie’s actual sketch at the Paper Players #169  taking a little artistic license I guess. But, in the end, I say challenges are meant to inspire us, right? Well, I think you can see how I was inspired by the sketch on this CAS card today…

SU Kind and Cozy

I have not played with Fab Friday for a while so I thought I would join in in the fun for this challenge # 27. When I saw the four squares, I thought of the cute little cups in the SU Kind and Cozy stamp set. Here is the card:

SU Kind and Cozy with Delicate Designs

Card Recipe:
STAMPS: SU Kind and Cozy, SU Tiny Tags
PAPER: SU Real Red, SU Pool Party, SU Calypso Coral, SU Basic Gray, SU Whisper White, SU Tea for Two DSP (retired)
INK: SU Real Red, SU Pool Party, SU Calypso Coral, SU Basic Gray, SU So Saffron
ACCESSORIES: SU Silver Mini Brads
TOOLS: SU 1 inch square punch, SU Tiny Tags Punch

Here is a little tip to help line up and center the four squares- cut two strips of  1/4 inch cardstock and place them on the grid as shown. Then just place the inner corners of each square into the inside corners made by the intersection of the two strips lined up on the grid paper.

SU Kind and Cozy with Tiny Tags

I loved the colors this week at Colour Q # 202– Gray with shades of Yellow and a pop of Ruby Red. I used some of my retired Tea for Two DSP  with its So Saffron print to create a sweet little trio of cups from  the SU Kind and Cozy stamp set.  I noticed I still had  the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #99  in my mind when I designed this card so I am going to post again over there;) Don’t forget if you loved that Tea for Two DSP- the current Afternoon PIcnic DSP is just different colors.
