SU Wild about Flowers

SU Wild About Flowers with Hardwood

July 28, 2016

I played a round with the Paper Players #305 this week… love that site- such a creative Design Team. I really liked the sketch the talented LeAnne  gave us to work with this round, too-  just the inspiration I needed to create today! Now, I have a card in reserve to make it any occasion I need.

I used a  Hardwood stamped card that was on my desk collecting dust…and thought the SU Wild About Flowers stamp set would look great with some rustic additions like a piece of retired burlap ribbon and a gold button with a linen thread bow. I really love the NEW Layering Ovals Framelits- they create a nice sized border in so many different sizes with scallops, too! Definitely worth getting even if you have the older SU Ovals:)

Weekly Deals March 22 to March 28

March 22, 2016

It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means?
Weekly Deals are up! Good today, March 22 to Monday, March 28.

If you had your eye on that Curvy Trio Punch, now is the time!

WooHoo! It’s on sale for $5 off the original price! And, it’s time to stock up on the embellies, too- Pearls and White Accents. Hey, why not add some glitz with glitter, too! And wrap it all up with some luxurious Satin Silver Ribbon. This is a great line-up, friends!

Oh, and it is still SALE-A-BRATION until March 31 so stocking  up can get you a freebie-

and don’t forget about the new items added, too!

I certainly love pearls as an accent as seen on these cards, so delicate and pretty:

but I really love the variety of sizes in the White Perfect Accents, too.
To me, the white accents are a kind of “modern day” pearl accent that fits with a fun stamp set like the SU Sprinkles of Life, our Ronald McDonald Charity.

They add just a little pop of pizzazz!

SU Wild About Flowers

“FRAME” is the buzzword at The Paper Players #254 this week so I decided to show you a technique I learned from my upline Linda Heller last month at our demo meeting. It involves the simple act of Watercoloring on cardstock after using the SU  Brick Wall embossing folder.  Linda showed us how to use our aquapainters to watercolor the bricks with Cajun Craze ink- oh, it is sooooo cool!

SU Wild about Flowers Bick Wall insp by Lina

She made an awesome card with the new Lots of Labels framelits and an amazing color combo of Mossy Meadow, Tip Top Taupe, Soft Sky, and Cajun Craze ink. I have seen more than a few creative cards on Pinterest using the Brick Wall embossed panel with these framelits used to create an opening- they are wonderful used together!

Linda used a stamp set I did not have so I pulled out another one…
*proof to my family that I do not have EVERYTHING Stampin’ Up has in the catalog…LOL.

I picked the SU Wild About Flowers stamp set to stamp a CAS image. I initially added the Mossy Meadow FRAME around the opening of the Brick Wall to set off the opening but then noticed how the frame really showcased not only the opening but also the beautiful Soft Sky cardstock,  the watercolored brick panel, and the flower image all at the same time:)

All you do to create a frame is put one framelit inside the other one when running it through the Big Shot.  The Magnetic Platform comes in handy but if you do not have one- just make sure to secure the framelits as they go through the machine.

I  tucked a sentiment from the SU Garden in Bloom stamp set inside the frame on the front of the card and  finished off the inside with another sentiment in the stamp set.

See how neat the watercolor is…as you are “painting” it doesn’t look that great, and then it dries and the oohs and aahs start! I like it because you don’t have to be perfect on it, every card my girls did at class looked different and every card was awesome!

SU Wild about Flowers

July 1, 2015

I have been blessed to know so many wonderful people in my life. And one of the most thoughtful, sweet, caring women I know is retiring tomorrow! She has been a nurse for many, many years enriching the lives of everyone she touches. I am so excited for her new adventures visiting her kids, crafting, and I am sure serving others as she did her parents that she lost in the last two years. She still has and shares the seeds that her father harvested from his garden. So, when I saw the retirement sentiment with the new SU Wild about Flowers stamp set- I knew it was meant for her.

Happy Retirement, Jan!

I was inspired by Nance’s sketch and her card at The Paper Players Challenge # 251.

I loved the crisp color of Watermelon Wonder with Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, and Old Olive. I used the new Lots of Labels framelits to die cut the image. And, I love that Triple Banner Punch- so easy to create the pennant banners!
