Gift Card Holder

SU Truly Tailored Gift Card Holder

March 2, 2018

I was challenged to make a card using supplies given to me by my upline last month for an online event. If I recall correctly, I was given card bases of Night of Navy and Very Vanilla cardstock, a panel of Tranquil Tide Cardstock, various 3″ x 4″ pieces of True Gentleman Designer Series Paper, some Linen Thread and a button. We were to use stamped images from our SU Truly Tailored stamp set on our card.

I have to admit….I did not do it in the time frame,
and did not use the Linen Thread and button but…
I did get it done!!!

I made a gift card holder as my project.
I just folded back the front of the card (in half at 2-3/4″) and trimmed off the end 1″ of the flap
before I adhered it just on the top and bottom so the gift card could slip in.

Super easy to do and used the DSP in a nice coordinated way…what do you think?
I really love the colors in this DSP especially the bold ones I chose on this card.

Thanks for buzzing by, friends…

SU Merry Cafe Candle with Gift Card

December 8, 2017

I made up some little Christmas gifts this weekend using the SU Merry Cafe stamp set and the Coffee Cup Framelits. I was inspired by Christine Miller’s holder that I tweaked a teensy bit putting together.

Start with a 2-3/4″ x 11″ piece of cardstock.  On the 11″ side, score at 1/2″, 3-1/4″, 3-3/4″, and 6-1/2″. On the 1/2″ section, place Tear & Tape. In the next section, die cut or punch a circle to fit whatever size candle etc. you want to place in the holder.

Next, on a 2-1/2″ x 9-1/4″ piece of cardstock, score at 1/2″ on the 2-1/2″ side. On the 9-1/4″ side, score at 1/2″, 3-1/4″, 6″ and 8-3/4″.  Snip each of the 1/2″ sections on the long side into angles as shown below. Place Tear & Tape on the two 1/2″ x 2″ sections on each end and the middle section.

Flip over the cardstock and place Tear & Tape on the other two sections as shown below.

On the piece of cardstock with the circle cut out, place a 2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Coffee Break DSP. Fold up and adhere the 1/2″ section with the Tear & Tape to the DSP covered panel as shown below.

Adhere the other piece of cardstock to the cardstock above as shown below.

Here is another pic that shows it adhered on the bottom. Remove the other pieces of Tear & Tape from the other flaps and slip into the sides of the bottom.

Next, attach the last two flaps behind the tall side of the box as shown below.

Adhere three 2-1/2″ x 1-3/4″ pieces of Coffee Break DSP to the sides of the box as shown below.

Stamp the sentiment for the gift card tag and adhere to the gift card. I used a 2-1/2″ circle punch for the Real Red, a 2-1/4″ circle punch for the Early Espresso, and a 2″ circle punch for the Whisper White circle.

I used some Garden Green patterned paper from the Be Merry DSP for the coffee cup tag. I adhered the DSP to a white cup base to make it sturdier. I placed the candle holder into a cello bag and closed with some burlap twine.

SU Merry Little Labels Corner Pop Up Card

November 10, 2017

Have you noticed the cute Merry Little Labels Bundle in the holiday catalog?

It comes with the coordinating Everyday Label Punch.

And the other sentiments “Special Delivery” and “Eat Drink and Be Merry”

fit in the SU Layering Ovals and Layering Circles Framelits,

They are really cute little labels that are so merry!

I was given the task of using the stamp set for a card and ended up using FOUR of them on this gift card holder!

You slide a gift card holder or some cash in the snowflake triangular pouch

and slip a little ribbon around it to shut it with a bow! Add a few little rhinestones for some bling:)

Put a little name tag on the back, too!

Now how did I make this card?

  1. Start with a square- this one was 8″ x 8″. You can make it any size.
  2. Score it in half on one side and then turn it a quarter turn and score again in half. You now have a square with a plus sign dividing it in four quarters.
  3. Now take the scored square and turn it so two opposite diagonal corners are both in the groove of your Stampin’ Trimmer and score from one corner tip at the top of trimmer to the opposite diagonal corner tip at the bottom of trimmer. Only score once on the diagonal. You now have a square with a scored plus sign and one diagonal score from two opposite corners.
  4. Fold on all the score lines so the card closes with the triangle scores folded on the inside and two non-scored squares on the two outside panels.  You can watch Lisa Curcio’s video HERE to see the folding.
  5. The Special Delivery is on one of the diagonal scored quarters. On the other diagonally scored quarter, you will adhere the folds together where the “For You” is located. You will also adhere the bottom of the flap where the silver foil snowflakes are so the gift card can slip in the pocket.
  6. Place a tag on the back to personalize the treat!

SU Merry Cafe with Season to Sparkle

September 10, 2017

It’s great when Stampin’ Up releases a stamp set that coordinates with a previously released stamp set or framelits.

I was jumping for joy when they designed the SU Merry Cafe (new to the Holiday Catalog)

to pair up with the SU Coffee Cafe Bundle in the Annual Catalog!

Of course, I used the super versatile Layering Seasons Framelits and the gorgeous new Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper to create this fall themed card…or should I say…gift card holder!

It is quite easy to make a quick gift card holder. I just folded back a 1-1/4″ scored section from the front of the card. That folded section created a space to show off  the  1″ of pumpkin DSP!

I gave my stamping gals the choice of an autumn card or a Halloween card by simply changing the embossing on the front and adding a raven and spider from the SU Season to Sparkle stamp set. It’s another one of those new bundles that have seasonal stamps in it.

Is that sentiment just the best ever? Scream and Sugar!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so happy to present these cards to my girls at class last week-  they loved the DSP, the Merry Cafe, the Pinewood Embossing Folder, and the spider and raven from the Season to Sparkle! Not to mention we used the Seasonal Layers Thinlits yet again showing how versatile they are in the stamping tool box:)

SU Gift Card Holders using Hostess set Time of Year

November 28, 2016

Looking for a neat way to give a gift card this holiday season? Here is a quick and easy one..

su-gift-card-holder-thinking-of-you-2

I made two versions of the card using the SU Warmth and Cheer Designer Series Paper Pack full of “warm” patterns. I used a hostess stamp set from the Annual Catalog called Time of Year . It is a versatile set with all occasion sentiments. As you can see I created a Christmas and a Birthday card.

Here are some directions:

First, you score a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of cardstock at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″ on the 11″ side. You then fold back the 2 3/4 portion into the inside 5 1/2″ score fold (see photo below). On the edge that will fold back to the 5 1/2″ score, trim 1/8″ off so it fits flat unimpeded by the fold.

Now slide that trimmed edge the whole way inside the Classic Label Punch in the middle of the paper. After you punch the slot, you will have to slide the punch 1/8″ to the left and then right to widen the slot for the gift card holder. See photos below:

Adhere the flap down around the edges of the flap so the gift card has a pocket to slide into.

To hold the card closed just pop some dimensionals on the top right hand corner under something like the circle I have with the holly and berries or the birthday cake (off hand, I can’t remember where it came from) on it and slide the flap under it. The confetti comes from a new stamp coming out in the Ocassions Catalog.

Here is the Birthday version:

This is one of the cutest ways I have seen to make a quick and easy gift card holder…I bet you can’t resist making one now…have fun and share it with me if you make one!
