SU Petal Potpourri Gift Card Holder

February 2, 2015

I just got back from an awesome Stampin’ Up Leadership Conference in Orlando.
It was packed with inspiration, friends, and fun!
We were all given this cool bag to tote all of our goodies!

Here is my pal, Debbi Muche, who was “one” of my babysitters for the event…

and my upline Linda Heller and my up, upline Mari Fredericks…

And, yes, I even had the pleasure of meeting up with Brian King, too! My hubby had to leave a bit early because of a flight the next morning, and I got to sit beside Brian on the way home from the Managers reception and dazzle him with my interesting conversation even though he was texting Linda that the lady sitting next to him would not shut up…LOL.

Here is one of the swaps I created to share with other demonstrators who attended.

I think this project wins the prize for using the MOST SU items!

SU Petal Potpourri Gift Card Holder Slanted

I used the Gift Card Envelope and Trim Thinlits, which is a carry-over product from the Holiday Catalog, and the Large Polka Dot embossing folder to make the gift card holder- super simple.  I used the new super cool  B.Y.O.P. stamp set for the sentiments on the outside and inside. The outside sentiment was die cut with the Project Life framelits, and the upper inside sentiment was die cut from the Word Bubbles framelits. The B.Y.O.P. is a seriously versatile stamp set that serves the need we all have for giving gift cards.

SU Petal Potpourri Gift Card Holder Inside

I stamped the flower from the new Petal Potpourri stamp set, and punched it out with ease using the new Flower Medallion coordinating punch (that also works with the new Crazy About You stamp set.) The leaf comes from the Flower Patch stamp set that also has matching framelits! What could go better with the focal flower than the Flowerpot DSP? I pulled all the colors for the swap from that DSP- Lost Lagoon, Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry, Garden Green and Night of Navy.

I decided to hold it together in the back with some Crushed Curry Sale-a-bration ribbon that you can get FREE with a $50 order during SALE-A-BRATION 2015!
Oh, and the cute little button is also from the SAB Ribbon/Button Accessory Pack.

An Oldie but Goodie from 2001- SU Congratulations

It’s graduation season, and our family is headed to their first “out of the family” graduation celebration. But it is like family- our neighbor’s son is graduating high school and heading to college.

I pulled out an Oldie but Goodie (SU Congratulations 2001) to make a money holder for David. I have always loved this old set but the CONGRATULATIONS was large and hard to use on a card but wonderful for a long money holder! I have yet to let go of any stamp set I have purchased for the last 12 years, and this is one I will continue to use:)

SU Congratulations 2001 Both

Congratulations to all of you on your loved ones’ graduations this year. Enjoy the celebrations and the yummy food…can’t wait to see what the Lewis Family has in store for us today!

Here are some measurements since a few have asked how I made this after I returned from the grad party which was awesome!

To make the outside red base holder:

Start with a 7″ x 7 1/4″ piece of CS. Score at 2″ and 5 1/4″ on the 7 1/4″ side. Place adhesive along the bottom 1/8″ of the CS and fold in the sides adhering them to form a pocket. I actually used the chubby oval from the Word Bubble Framelits to make the half oval on the top of the red base when I ran it through the Big Shot. Then I stamped the sentiment on white CS lager then the red base so I had room to play with it and lined it up with the cut out I made on the red card base. I laid the same oval framelit over the white CS and used a stick note to hold it in place where it matched up with my other cut out. I lifted it off carefully and ran the white CS through the Big Shot. You can trim off on the bottom if needed. Better to have excess if needed! I added some strips of leftover black CS to the sides of the white CS and trimmed along the inside of the curved half oval cut-out.

To make the inside black sliding money holder inside:

Cut a 7″ by 3″ piece of black CS. Cut a 3″ by 4″ piece and cut an angle on the top for the pocket to hold the cash or check. Adhere to the slider base about 1/8″ on the left side and the bottom. This forms a pocket that allows you to slide the gift into from the right side which was good since I had a few bills to put in it that did not get all bunched up- much easier when the right side is open. Adhere some sort of tab with an embellishment to pull it out.

SU Festive Flurry with More Merry Messages

I have been playing with my SU Festive Flurry Stamp set a lot and even used in the last two months for my classes but have not posted many things showcasing it so I decided it was up to bat for Dynamic Duos # 83 this week.

Dynamic Duos marina crumb

It’s a Subtles challenge but boy is Marina Mist a statement color in my opinion. I used my Envelope Punch Board to create this Gift Card Holder… or Gift Certificate in this case.

SU Festive Flurry DD

SU Festive Flurry Gift Card inside

SU Festive Flurry Gift Card Open DD

To make the holder:

1. Start with a 4 1/4 inch by 11 inch piece of cardstock and score on the long side at 2 inches, 7 1/4 inches, and 7 3/8 inches.
2. Place the short end of the longest part that you scored on the Envelope Punch Board and punch (no scoring)  at 1 inch and 3 1/4 inches. Essentially you are punching in 1 inch on each side.
3. Fold in on the score lines. The 7 1/4 and 7 3/8 inch scores create somewhat of a matchbox fold.
4. You can fold the tabs in either way. I chose to have the middle tab out but many images I saw of this kind of card have the middle tab tucked in.
5. Decorate as desired…I simply put bordered DSP in about 1/4 inch on each Crumb Cake panel.

SU Blue Ribbon

It’s a Graduation Celebration at The Friday MashUp #108 this week, and it was at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa, last Saturday for my son, Aaron. He finished his undergraduate degree with Honors and is headed off to law school in the fall. Here’s a photo of the very proud parents with him. As you can see, I could not resist color coordinating Jim and I since he had that Primrose-y Petal/Melon Mambo shirt from a wedding last summer….

I am planning some fun GRADUATION cards/projects for Stamp Night next month so I played around with the SU Blue Ribbon stamp set. I have seen this design on numerous sites and just went with my own version with SU Parker’s Patterns DSP- about to retire!
