SU Notecard

SU All Natural

How wonderful to see the beautiful artwork of Erica’s mom this week at the Friday MashUp # 129. I loved the rich, dark colors of SU Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso melding together with the mellow So Saffron.

My mom is not an artist with pens or brushes but when it comes to canning fruit and jellies- she is an artist for sure! I just stopped by this weekend for her BIRTHDAY and shopped in her canning center. I picked up some delicious tart cherry preserves, elderberry jelly, and peach marmalade. If there is a fruit to be picked and canned- she (and my faithful dad) get to work.  So, this card is a Mashed Up  tribute to my mom- the canner of pears (and anything else she can get her hands on!)
SU All Natural Pear!

I put the sentiment on the inside to keep the card looking clean like a portrait. Mom will display it and save it for sure;) This card has the tic-tac-toe of Embossing, Birthday, and Button so I am sharing it with Ann and The Paper Players # 165 this week.

SU Positively Chevron and Happy Day Unite…

Caution…this post could make you dizzy. My head is spinning after taking photos of it- trying to capture the essence of the card with Chevrons waving up and down and side to side. But it was worth it- I love chevrons! I was inspired to make this card by Laurie Willison at the MUSE Card Club #33. Here is her CAS card:

The design was sooo cool. I pulled out the dark blue and white as colors in my card and used the same sentiment. I wanted to go nautical but I could not pull it off. So, instead…I used the colors at Pals Paper Arts #170  this week to create a card with a bottom panel that is completely stamped like Laurie’s with the “envelope” style top in white showcasing the sentiment and some embellishments. Hope you like it…and do chevrons drive you bonkers sometimes when you look at them?

SU Positively Chevron and Happy Day Close up

It is hard to see the contrast of the SU Early Espresso and the Midnight Muse but boy do they look nice together. I just kept thinking of a navy blazer with brass buttons and brown shoes- made me smile thinking of my two handsome sons who clean up quite nicely;)

SU Kind and Cozy with Tiny Tags

I loved the colors this week at Colour Q # 202– Gray with shades of Yellow and a pop of Ruby Red. I used some of my retired Tea for Two DSP  with its So Saffron print to create a sweet little trio of cups from  the SU Kind and Cozy stamp set.  I noticed I still had  the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #99  in my mind when I designed this card so I am going to post again over there;) Don’t forget if you loved that Tea for Two DSP- the current Afternoon PIcnic DSP is just different colors.

SU Flower Shop and Happy Day with some Washi

Addicted to CAS # 19 has a SUMMER challenge this week and nothing speaks summer more to me than flowers. Now, if you checked our trash yesterday and noticed the dead hanging baskets, you would not believe me! Let’s just say I really enjoy them the first week or so I get them but have a tendency to neglect them. So, those of you who have a green and attentive thumb, I applaud you. You would think I would have inherited something from my mom who has had the same flower pots growing for many years that she hauls back and forth form PA to FLA every year!

I used the SU Flower Shop stamp set with its abundance of adorable hearty pansies that usher in summer! I picked the pansy with a homespun look to go with the Gingham Garden Washi tape.  Although there are a few elements on this card, I often think of Clean and Simple as a way of looking at things. For example, all the lines are clean  and the elements are simple- some tape, a pop of dimension on the middle of the flower, and a candy dot to finish of the “smile”. What do you think, would you consider this CAS although it has layers, etc?

Don’t forget about the tip when using this set with the punch. See the post HERE.

Add a little Washi tape to the inside:

SU Happy Hour

I always thought this set was so cute so I decided to use it for Freshly Made Sketches # 84. I was not sure if the sketch was set in stone like this one with just a banner going across horizontally pointing to a sentiment but it seemed all of the DT members used an image on the banner (except for Cindy and Linda) so I used an image as well. I tried to show a close-up of the olive to show the touch of bling…it is so bright and shiny in person;)
