SU Six-Sided Sampler

SU Kinda Eclectic Screen Card

February 13, 2015

Happy beginning to the Valentine’s Day weekend!

The hubby and I are starting off the weekend with a Marriage Seminar at our church tonight and then all day tomorrow.  And, I am so excited I get to see all three of my kiddos at some time this weekend, too:)

But before all the plans start…I wanted to play along with the

Stampin’ Up Only Challenges # 116 – a shaped card!

We are supposed to think outside of a “rectanglar or square box.” Although, my card has a somewhat rectangular shape, if you trace around it- it has cut outs on the bottom and rounded corners on each panel so I hope it counts as a non-traditional “shaped” card!

SU Kinda Eclectic Last Screen

I modified this screen card from the ones you may have seen floating around these days. I used a 5 1/2″ by 12″ piece of cardstock instead of 11″. This extra inch allowed me to fit the sentiment in the last screen! I scored the Crumb Cake card base at 3″, 6″, and 9″ to create the four paneled card. My Chocolate Chip borders are 2 3/4″ x 4 1/2″, and the Very Vanilla stamped panels are 2 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ . I essentially used the beautiful SU Kinda Eclectic stamped set, and added in the SU Choose Happiness (bird), and the SU Six-Sided Sampler for the first sentiment (hello, sweet friend). I added some crochet trim, pearls, and a clip to add some textural details.

To make the feet of the card, I used the SU Decorative Label Punch. Having the 3″ panels also made it easy to just slip the punch half way up and keep the sides of the punch flush with each side of the panel. In the end, each panel easily ended up the same size without measuring anything. You can also punch the first two and the last two panels at the same time.

*TIP: Add the stamped panels to the card base before punching in case you need to modify the depth of the punch on each panel. However, I think you will do just fine if you leave the same amount of Crumb Cake border on the top of the Chocolate Chip panel as you would on the sides of each panel.

Friday Mashup 166

It’s Friday, kiddos! Time for another fun challenge at the Friday Mashup # 166. Holly is asking us to get out some sequins. I was excited to use my new SU sequins in the 2013-15 In Colors. I was surprised how these little embellishments can really pack a big punch.

I have been seeing some really pretty cards with sequins and collage style stamping. So, I gave it a whirl on this card using the 2013-15 In Colors.
The soft Flower Shop bloom reminds me of SUMMER so I thought I would share it AGAIN with the Stampin’ Up Only Challenge site this week.
