Friday Mashup 166

It’s Friday, kiddos! Time for another fun challenge at the Friday Mashup # 166. Holly is asking us to get out some sequins. I was excited to use my new SU sequins in the 2013-15 In Colors. I was surprised how these little embellishments can really pack a big punch.

 Create a project using “Sequins.”
Create  a “Hello or Hi project.”
or
Mash it Up! and create a “Hello project with Sequins.”
We can’t wait to see your project this week- make sure to check out the Design Team inspiration cards!
I have been seeing some really pretty cards with sequins and collage style stamping. So, I gave it a whirl on this card using the 2013-15 In Colors.
The soft Flower Shop bloom reminds me of SUMMER so I thought I would share it AGAIN with the Stampin’ Up Only Challenge site this week.

SU Flower Shop with Petite Petals Flower Pot Card

At first, I was really wondering how to incorporate ALL of the colors Avery picked for our shaped card challenge at the Friday Mashup #155 this week.

fm155

Create a project using the Colors ” Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder & Wild Wasabi”.

Create a ” Shaped card”.

Or Mash it up and create a “Shaped Card using the above Colors”.

After a few days of pondering, I thought of a flower pot card. I had not made one since my daughter’s 15th birthday, and she is 21 now and getting ready to graduate college in one month! With my craft hoarding tendencies, I actually found the card and got to work on a new one with the fabulous SU Flower Shop and Petite Petals with their coordinating punches. I used the Bird Builder Punch for the leaves.

SU Crosses of Hope with Chevron Punch Lattice

It’s time to SPRING into Tara’s Friday Mashup Challenge # 154.

1. Create a Spring Card.
2. Use Scattered embossing by using a stylus to selectively emboss portions of an embossing folder.
3. Mash It Up with a Spring Card with Scattered embossing!

I was in Easter mode this week for my classes so I thought I would share one since Spring brings Easter with it. I am sure you have been seeing a lot of Chevron Punch lattices over blogland. Well, I tried my hand at one or two. You just punch a continuous line of chevrons out of a 8 1/2″ by 1 1/4″ strip of card stock. Repeat with another piece. Then you lay one on top of the other with the chevrons going in opposite directions. Then simply interlace them and gently spread to create the lattice. I used the Little Leaves Sizzlet for the leaves and the Petite Petals for the flowers on this card. I also used the lovely retired SU set Crosses of Hope. The Hardwood Stamp is the perfect background for the lattice and the cross, don’t you think?

SU Crosses of Hope with Chevron Lattice

I also made one with the Woodgrain background stamp that has a finer line image on it. I used the Bird Builder punch of the leaves on this one.

SU Crosses of Hope Chevron PUnch Woodgrain

After making both of them…
I think I would use the Hardwood background with the Bird Builder leaves
on my next card…

I sure hope you play along with the Friday Mashup this week. As you can see, I did not mash it up this week, will you? I would love to see it!

Sneak Peek of SU Petite Petals with SU Just Thinking

I haven’t played along with the Muse Card Club for a while now but love all the fantastic cards inspired by the Muse each week. I decided while my golfing family played 18 holes today, I would play with my stamps although they are strewn around in a big mess from the move. But I did get my paws on some fun new items coming up in the new Occasions catalog debuting on January 3rd – the SU Petite Petals and the coordinating punch! Oh my gosh, I just love this stamp set… and this is only one of the six flowers included in the set! And, of course, a punch to match- can’t ask for anything more.

I was inspired by Marion Vagg’s window card with clusters of posies but wanted to have ample space to write a message on the inside so I made a window on the front instead.

I used the ColourQ # 220 colors to make this card- boy, I think Summer Starfruit really mixes well with the Strawberry Slush, and Coastal Cabana. It isn’t one of my go-to colors usually, how do you think they look together?
