SU Papillon Potpourri

Here’s a monochromatic card using the SU Papillon Potpourri stamp set which is bundled with the Bitty Butterfly Punch at a 15% discount through September 30.  I was inspired by Lori Tecler’s card at the MUSE Card Club #32 this week. Lori had a panel with a “thinking of you” sentiment with butterflies surrounded by a blue background.  I  love all the different hues  of blue that SU carries that lend themsleves to various moods and messages I want to convey with my cards. SU Marina Mist is what I think of when I think of BLUE- a warm and cool color of blue all rolled into one! What is your favorite blue?

The larger butterfly is punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and the smaller one is punched with the Bitty Butterfly Punch. Think how versatile these two punches are with one great stamp set!

And more FUN today…

As I mentioned a few days ago, I came up to camp with the hubby this week and have been preparing for my card classes next week and my card swapping club that meets in early December. I have thank you and graduation/wedding cards for my part of the swapping so I decided to design my last graduation card using Nance’s cool sketch with diagonals and chevrons at The Paper Players # 160 this week. I used the new Stylish Stripes embossing folder on this card. I just cut out a portion of it and mounted it on a diagonal. I also used the new Chevron punch from the Holiday Mini-catalog. I know both of these new toys will get played with often:)

I keep everything!

Yes, I am a stamp hoarder…really, I do not think I have ever let go of one!  And, I was glad when I saw The Friday MashUp # 124 this week- Lili’s sketch with a school theme. I have a current SU alphabet and a recently retired one but neither one was “schooly” enough for me. Alas, I had my old SU Alphabet Attitude Uppers and Fun Numbers circa 1998 neatly stored on the top of my wooden stamp shelf ! What about you, do you regularly purge or squirrel away stamps for just the right card?

I used  the SU Woodgrain Background inked up with SU Baked Brown Sugar ink on the same paper , the pencil image from an unknown NBUS box–and a SU Brights Designer Button from last catalog. I was going to smudge up the blackboard but remembered how much I loved a squeaky clean chalkboard when I walked into class;)

SU Summer Silhouettes

So, the hubby decided to renovate his “lil fishing cabin on the Allegheny River near Pittsburgh this summer. This has  turned into a complete overhaul of the three room cabin- a bedroom/bath, living room and kitchen- one thing leads to another- when he upgraded the electric, he had to rip out the walls. When he ripped out the walls, he needed to change the floor and the list goes on. In the end, he ended up rewiring, drywalling, painting, and decided to put in an actual kitchen with nice hardwood floors. Our kids have enjoyed this little cabin with their friends all through college- of course, when it was a dumpy place. Now, mom and dad are going to enjoy it as well! Jim has been gone all week at camp so I decided to go up and visit. I thought while he worked, I could get some card swaps done. I packed up all my necessary stamping supplies and off I went. Once I got there with all my clear mount stamps, I found I out I forgot my acrylic blocks!!! I almost started to cry. Jim, my carpenter in shining armor, quickly came to the rescue…

I was happy to have my stamps temporarily mounted and could finish up my MUSE Card Club #31 submission.

But, I forgot it had to be posted by Monday morning. Ugh…no internet out here. But somehow, I was able to tether my laptop to Jim’s iPhone and get it loaded up! What would I do without him?

SU Gifts of Kindness

I have been wanting to use my new SU Gifts of Kindness stamp set and thought the sketch challenge at Pals Paper Arts #  169  and the color challenge at Dynamic Duos # 67  were a great way to use it.  Thanks for the inspiration Pals and gals at DD:)

SU Gifts of Kindness

The black polka dot embossing was hard to capture in a photo taken by amateur me so here is a close up:
