SU Dragonfly Dreams Bundle Inlay Technique

March 13, 2017

We made this card at our Dragonfly Dreams Product Class this month.

It uses an inlay technique.

  • First, I stamped the three blue swoshes from the Work of Art stamp set in Soft Sky, Marina Mist, and Dapper Denim ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock.
  • I then die cut the string of dragonflies out of that stamped panel and set it aside.
  • I then die cut two more strings of dragonflies from two more pieces of Thick Whisper White cardstock.
  • I adhered the stamped panel with the “hole” left from the dragonflies to a same sized piece of Whisper White cardstock to close up the “hole.”
  • Next, I inlaid one of the whites strings of dragonflies into the “hole” using dabs of Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
  • I layered another white string of dragonflies onto the first white inlaid string.
  • Then I finished off the technique by adhering the die cut blue dragonflies on top of the two white strings of white dragonflies.

It has a neat layered effect on the card. I hope you can see it here:

It is hard to see but I added Clear Wink of Stella to the swooshes and a few scattered rhinestones.
A few stamps of the dots on the top and bottom finish off the inside of the card:)

SU So Detailed Thinlits with Falling in Love and So in Love

March 6, 2017

We made this pretties at class last week. Everyone was so taken, as I was, with the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper and the intricate die cut from the So Detailed Thinlits.

I love how you can place the die cut in so many different ways…on top, on bottom, and even on the side vertically as you have probably seen on Pinterest. Such a pretty die that was super easy to cut out. And, oh my, what about those beautiful Falling in Love Embellishments…swoon.

So many sentiments from the So In Love stamp set fit in the Stitched Shapes oval die as seen below, and you can put them inside as well since each is a “a day to celebrate.”

I love how Stampin’ Up has incorporated sentiment fonts from various stamp sets
into a suite like they did with this one from SU Suite Sentiments.

I decided to share these with Sandy’s Cut It Out theme Challenge #334 at the Paper Players.

SU Nailed It Bundle

March 1, 2017

I am in a swap with a few gals each month, and we decided to play
with the SU Nailed It bundle this time around.

I love a fun fold card so I made this simple one that is easy to mail:

I absolutely love the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder…super cool!
I embossed a piece of Silver Foil which is quite elegant but if you are doing a large number of them, you can use Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil like I did on this card.

I thought the “Nailed it” sentiment fit into a congratulations theme so I used a sentiment
from SU Scenic Sayings on the front of the card. Of course, the Stitched Shapes Framelits always
add a special touch to a card, don’t you think?

I also added the word “YOU” from the SU Jar of Love to finish off the sentiment.
