SU Brightly Lit

September 27, 2017

Doesn’t this card remind you of a scene from Dicken’s A Christmas Carol?

Or my favorite rendition of the Dicken’s classic…The Muppet Christmas Carol!!

A few months ago my friend, Julie Ross, sent me a card using the Sweetheart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder as a cobblestone ground base for the Bike Ride stamp set. I thought it was genius! I decided to use it as a cobblestone walkway to create a Christmas scene with the SU Brightly Lit Stamp Set above. Paired with the Softly Falling TIEF, the Brightly Lit Bundle creates a beautiful nostalgic Dickens kind of Christmas Scene. The middle lamp light and the banner are popped up giving the card even more texture and dimension:)

SU Seasonal Lantern

September 22, 2017

I was intrigued with the SU Seasonal Lantern when I first saw it in the Holiday Catalog. I just got it and had so much fun putting together a fall themed card great for Thanksgiving time that will be here before we know it!

I am sharing it with the crew over at The Paper Players for

LeAnne’s Harvest Theme Challenge # 362.

I used the gorgeous Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper to create a cool fall feeling to the card but the splash of Lemon Lime Twist really brightens up the card. I love to design a card around the colors palette in the paper- makes designing so much easier. I played around with adding in some copper and gold foil but in the end, I went with just cardstock. I cut the Very Vanilla embossed panel to be 3″ x 5-1/2″ with a border of Early Espresso that is 3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. I think the embossed panel is a great background for the lantern to sit upon, don’t you?

I can’t wait to make some Christmas lanterns…

SU Painted Harvest

September 15, 2017

I think this may be the hottest item in the new catalog!

~The Painted Harvest Bundle~

My stamping girls certainly loved it at class last week!

A few gals actually said the DSP was missing in their kits. then I showed them how they were going to make it! However, there is an absolutely beautiful sunflower patterned paper in the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper🙂

Have you seen all the combinations of colors- yellows, purples, blues-that people have been using on Pinterest?  We used this color combination at our Demo meeting- Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso for the flowers and  Pear Pizzazz and Garden Green for the leaves. To add a little more detail, my friend Linda Heller had us slide a Soft Sky ink spot over the Very Vanilla cardstock before we stamped.

It was super easy to create this fun fold card- just cut off 1-1/4″ of the Early Espresso card base and then…use it for the banner! No waste- ask my girls, I always show them how to get the most out of their cardstock! I used the coordinating leaf punch that comes in the bundle to punch out the leaves for the banner. The 1/4″ Copper Trim finished the banner off wonderfully! Oh, and we jazzed it up with some Wink of Stella on the flower centers.

Here’s a story of  how God is in the details- I was going to a Girlfriend’s Luncheon last Sunday that my most precious friend Donna has every year. I wanted to give her something to let her know she is appreciated far more than any thing or any words can express. I happened to be out and picked up this sweet watering can of greens and flowers as an example of how she is just “pure sunshine” to anyone who meets her. When I got home, I decided I was going to make her a card with the Painted Harvest stamp set. Little did I realize that this one matched perfectly in color, style, and occasion! I mean, so perfect that I should take some cards down to that shop to go with the gift!!!

A little tip using this two step stamping stamp set- I found it easier to stamp the dark flower first than the lighter one even though the lighter one is bigger. I also stamped the veined darker green leaf first, too. It was much easier to see the dark ink and stamp the light ink on top of it. I have heard people suggest stamping the middle of the flower first but did not want to risk not having room for the petals and leaves later.

I also masked off  a bit of the leaf stem by rubbing ink off with my finger so the leaves appear to be coming out from under the sunflower- your choice it looks great either way:)

SU Merry Cafe with Season to Sparkle

September 10, 2017

It’s great when Stampin’ Up releases a stamp set that coordinates with a previously released stamp set or framelits.

I was jumping for joy when they designed the SU Merry Cafe (new to the Holiday Catalog)

to pair up with the SU Coffee Cafe Bundle in the Annual Catalog!

Of course, I used the super versatile Layering Seasons Framelits and the gorgeous new Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper to create this fall themed card…or should I say…gift card holder!

It is quite easy to make a quick gift card holder. I just folded back a 1-1/4″ scored section from the front of the card. That folded section created a space to show off  the  1″ of pumpkin DSP!

I gave my stamping gals the choice of an autumn card or a Halloween card by simply changing the embossing on the front and adding a raven and spider from the SU Season to Sparkle stamp set. It’s another one of those new bundles that have seasonal stamps in it.

Is that sentiment just the best ever? Scream and Sugar!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so happy to present these cards to my girls at class last week-  they loved the DSP, the Merry Cafe, the Pinewood Embossing Folder, and the spider and raven from the Season to Sparkle! Not to mention we used the Seasonal Layers Thinlits yet again showing how versatile they are in the stamping tool box:)

SU Smitten Mittens

September 4, 2017

I am smitten the new SU Smitten Mittens Bundle!

The stamps with coordinating framelits are just perfect to make a quick WOW card.

Take a look at this cutie I made with the bundle:

The detailed die cut mittens were attached over a solid white mitten, isn’t that neat?
And the Holly Berry Builder Punch added a cute little embellishment for the mittens. Although, I could have connected the mittens with some of the new Tinsel Trim, huh?

You will notice some new items from the Holiday catalog used on this card- the Quilt Top Embossing Folder and the Quilted Christmas 1/4″ Ribbon but you may be looking around the new catalog for the Designer Series Paper with the adorable mittens on it. Well, you won’t find it because it is in the Annual Catalog! You may have overlooked the Be Merry DSP since the holidays were not in sight when the Annual catalog come out in June.

It is super cute, and has a classic Christmas red, green, and white theme. Well, actually, it is Cherry Cobbler but it matches well with the Real Red in the new ribbon:) I love all the multicolored small patterned designs perfect for the bottom of a card.  My DSP is 2″ x 4″ so you get a lot of cards from one 12×12 piece of DSP.

*Think of all the cards you can design with a 2″ x 4″ piece of DSP on the bottom and some focal point on the top- a classic, easy template to use when designing any card.

I used a warm sentiment inside the card found in the SU Hearts Come Home stamp set-

another wonderful set in the new catalog!
