Sneak Peek of SU Big Day – SAB 2015

December 26, 2014

I am hoping all of you are having a great holiday week! Our family had a lovely Christmas eve dinner after church and for the first time, we exchanged gifts that night since my daughter had to bring cheer to her patients on Christmas day at the hospital. Christmas was a quiet, relaxing day spent eating, eating, and more eating!

Two days before Christmas and five days after Christmas we have family birthdays so I used my new Sale-a-bration set Big Day to make some festive birthday cards. I used my Banner framelits, a framelit from the Gift Card Envelope and Trims for the Happy Birthday sentiment, and some retired Melon Mambo ribbon that coordinated with the SU Sweet Taffy DSP. I just love using the Blendabiliites to color parts of the stamped image.  I even decorated the inside which I often neglect!

The new Occasions catalog and Sale-a-Bration brochure is fantastic! I have been designing, stamping, and cutting with all my pre-order goodies so my stampers can see a lot of fun stuff at our Annual Stampin’ Brunch in January. I will share with you our fun day when it arrives:)

PS…Don’t forget about my SU Wondrous Wreath promotion going on
until December 31, 2014. See the post HERE.

SU Butterfly Basics Sneak Peek

December 19, 2014

Holly’s Friday Mashup # 190 Challenge was right up my alley.

FM190

Create a project using the “Sketch.”

Create a “2 – layer card with a grungy element in the background.”

or Mash it Up!

and create a project “using the sketch that’s only 2 – layers.”

I love how this turned out. It’s only 2-layers- the card base and the butterfly- but I gave it dimension and detail by sponging on the So Saffron/Calypso Coral rectangle that was in the sketch challenge. I created a mask and sponged inside it:

I then covered the sponged rectangle and used the SU Gorgeous Grunge stamp to add the other sketch element on each side of sponged rectangle but not on the rectangle itself. I think it really made a different look instead of just layering the ink with the grunge stamp directly on the sponged rectangle. It looks like the rectangle is a layer. I used the distressed honeycomb image to add another inked layer of Crumb Cake. A simple Pistachio Pudding fern image added some more color for the beautiful Butterfly die cut to flutter on! A few scattered pearls add just enough embellishment and won’t inhibit mailing this card.

I can never have enough butterflies! And this SU Butterfly Basics stamp set will be bundled with the Butterflies Thinlits at a 15% discount in the NEW Occasions catalog that goes live on January 6, 2015. I can see a lot of this set in my future…

SU Wondrous Wreath Finale with a free kit!

December 17, 2015

It’s here…the long awaited finale of the SU Wondrous Wreath Easel Calendar Box! I am finishing up this season with a back to school theme for August/September using the SU Little Letters Thinlit dies and the Note from the SU Tap, Tap, Tap stamp set.

Don’t you just love the Crumb Cake and Baked Brown Sugar leaves on the wreath? It really makes the primary school colors pop!

October’s theme was a no-brainer with the cute little ghost and bats from the SU Holiday Home stamp set and the essential Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment:

November’s wreath features the changing colors of Autumn with Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Garden Green. The sentiment comes from the often overlooked Holiday Invitation stamp set in the back of the outgoing Mini-catalog. I used the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits cut down a bit to border the sentiment :

If you are overwhelmed with the idea of making 12 wreaths for this project,

just do 4 for the changing seasons!

And your surprise is….. a tidy little page of instructions for this project HERE!

1/4/15- OOPS! As I was making up the free kits, I noticed a typo on the instructions- on the little box that holds the calendars, you score in 1/2″ not 1/4″ on all four sides of the 3 5/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of cardstock.

Merry Christmas kiddos!

If you make an ONLINE order of $35 with me by the end of December 2014, the first week of January 2015, I will mail you a complimentary kit with the Soft Suede Easel Calendar Box and Hardwood panels cut, scored, and ready to assemble! All you need to do is stamp your various wreaths and pop on the buttons!
