SU Kind and Cozy with Something to Say

Have you seen all the cute watermelon cards made from the SU Kind and Cozy gingham circle? I just could not resist making one with Retrosketches #121 .

Since the circle was the main focal point, I made a circular watermelon slice instead of a wedge slice. But, boy are the wedges cute!  I used the Itty Bitty Punch Pack four petaled flower for the seeds- I just cut them into a seed shape. My Hardwood stamped panel is 3 3/8 x 4 5/8, and the watermelon red is a 1 7/8″ circle. The grown kids are home for the summer, and we have been eating watermelon everyday so I think I will save this card to send to my son in Washington, DC in the dead of winter to cheer him up:)

The Hardwood stamped panel reminds me of a picnic table top so I thought it paired well with a big, juicy, cold slice of watermelon:) What do you think?

Friday Mashup 166

It’s Friday, kiddos! Time for another fun challenge at the Friday Mashup # 166. Holly is asking us to get out some sequins. I was excited to use my new SU sequins in the 2013-15 In Colors. I was surprised how these little embellishments can really pack a big punch.

I have been seeing some really pretty cards with sequins and collage style stamping. So, I gave it a whirl on this card using the 2013-15 In Colors.
The soft Flower Shop bloom reminds me of SUMMER so I thought I would share it AGAIN with the Stampin’ Up Only Challenge site this week.

More SU Vivid Vases

Well, you can see how versatile the SU Vivid Vases stamp set really is…I have used Blendabilities with Crystal Effects, Blender pens with Watercoloring, and now some paper piecing. I used the Moonlight Designer Paper Stack to easily coordinate the colors. I actually used the Blendabilites alcohol markers that matched well with Blackberry Bliss and Hello, Honey. I am even trying to remember to do something to the insides of my cards even if it is just something simple. Flowers always remind me of SUMMERTIME so I am sharing it at Stampin’ Up Only Challenge #99.

SU The Open Sea and Weekly Deals

For a change of pace, I pulled out some dark colors for a masculine card. I used the

PPA # 208 sketch for inspiration.

I was going to distress this up a bit but I am more of clean stamper so I left it as is, but I really do want to move out of my comfort zone some more. Be on the look out:)

SU Pleasant Poppies

The first stamp set I wanted to color with my new SU Blendabilites alcohol markers was SU Pleasant Poppies. However, I just got around to it today! And, again, I did not do any “blending” just pure coloring inside the black lines. Oh, I do love these markers! I love how the alcohol color is transparent and shows all the detail and lines on a stamped image. I will get around blending but for now I am enjoying the coloring bliss:) I used Cindy Hall’s neat challenge at Freshly Made Sketches #141  for inspiration.

SU Pleasant Poppies

I changed it up a bit and did an A2 card instead of a square one. And, guess what? I am going to give you my measurements to save you the trouble of figuring them out. If you are stamping an image you would like to divide into pieces, you can follow this: I stamped my image on a 5″ x 3 3/4″ piece of card stock. I then cut one inch of each of the sides to make the four corner squares 1″ x 1″. Make sure you cut from each side in one inch. (Not one inch then another inch from that same edge.) Then you end up with the center top and bottom rectangles being 3″ x 1″. The center rectangle ends up being 3″ x 1 3/4″.

If you want to use Designer Paper, just cut them the above sizes and place them on your card front. There is a 1/8″ inch border around and between the cut portions. I used my grid paper to help me keep the 1/8″ border as straight as possible.

Card Recipe:
STAMPS: SU Pleasant Poppies, SU Petite Pairs
INK: SU Blendabilities Daffodil Delight-lightest one, SU Old Olive- lightest one, SU Cherry Cobbler-lightest one, SU Real Red
PAPER: SU Whisper White, SU Basic Black
