SU Christmas Deer with Christmas Cheer

I am cutting it close but I just loved the layout at Pals Paper Arts # 177  so I had to play along with everyone this week.

There are so many deer around my house lately that I figured why not put one on a card? I used the pretty retired SU Christmas Deer. I sometimes get a little crazy with large solid stamps because they sometimes do not stamp completely for me. Any hints on using them are welcome! Anyhow, close up, this one has a bit of a fuzziness to it but I loved it on my deer- I mean he is covered in fur, right? I also love Houndstooth prints on paper and embossed but it can look perfectly straight and then look whacky at certain angles especially when looking at photos on a computer with readers on!!! Ah, the fun of being over 40! Well, I suppose it is time to show my card:

  1. This is a great card Cindy. I love the color and pattern combo. I’m with you, not a fan of the large stamps, so I have no advice on how to get good coverage. Have a blessed week. B

  2. Whoa, what a blockbuster card, Cindy!! That deer with the houndstooth and red papers is sooo striking! Love it! Hugs, Darnell

  3. Beautiful card! Love that houndstooth – I’ve been hoarding my few sheets of it – lol! I have never tried this, but I have read that if you lightly sand the rubber on large stamps like the deer you will get better coverage. Worth a try?

  4. For solid images I stamp and count to 5 before I remove it, and for small areas a blender pen with a little ink works wonders and for a large area, I’ll very lightly use a sanding block across the image to smooth it. Hope one of those work for you.

Lovely card, that’s my favorite DSP and the red really pops! Thanks for playing along with us this week at Pals Paper Arts and I hope you join us again!
