SU Timeless Talk Envelope Punch Board Gift Card Holder

I am the hostess this week at the Friday Mashup #165! Thank you all so much for participating in this weekly challenge site- it is so fun seeing and being inspired by each and every one of your contributions to the site. I do hope you will play along again this week…or maybe this can be your first time!

My challenge is:

Create a project using the colors “Black, White/Ivory, and one other color of your choice.”

Create a project using a “Word Bubble.”

or Mash it Up! and create a “Black & White project with a Word Bubble on it.”

I pulled out my envelope punch board to make this gift card holder.

I found a tutorial HERE– I just adapted mine from Jackie Topa’s example.

SU Vivid Vases Watercolored

I played along with The Paper Players #200 challenge this week. Congrats and thank you  to all who have worked so hard to make the site AWESOME! To celebrate this milestone, the designers have given everyone inspiration from their favorite challenges. I chose to go with Jaydee’s challenge #91 of watercoloring.

Challenge 66

SU Vivid Vases Watercolor Final

SU Vivid Vases Watercolor Close Up

I did add some layers to my CAS design. I used my blender pens to watercolor the vases and flowers on the SU Vivid Vases image.  Remember to always use Stazon ink for watercoloring so the stamped image does not bleed or smear- it’s permanent. I also prefer using watercolor paper when I am watercoloring a larger area like the vases. If it is just a little bit of watercoloring on an image, I use my Whisper White Cardstock.

I just scribbled my Stampin” Write markers on a Corelle saucer and used that as my painter’s palette! It made it quite easy to control the amount of ink I put on my blender pen. I used the new 2014-16 IN COLORS Lost Lagoon, Tangelo Twist, and Hello Honey.

I also used the Lost Lagoon Designer Series Paper from the Moonlight Paper Stack- the 4 1/2″ x 6″ sheets (48 of four double sided designs for $6.95!)

The large scallop edgelit finished off the bottom of the Lost Lagoon panel. I embellished the card with the new luscious and easy to tie 3/8″ Stitched Satin Tangelo Twist ribbon.

Do you feel like getting out those blender pens, now? I think I have had mine for over ten years and they are still going strong. Just paint with them, clean off by squiggling on paper, and they are ready to go with another color- pretty cool and inexpensive tool to have in the crafting caddy:)

SU Work of Art

Here is a simple card I made a few weeks ago using Freshly Made Sketches # 138.  I was bummed when my blog was running so slowly that day, and I could not upload it in time for the deadline. So, I thought I would share it with you today. The SU Work of Art stamp set is a gem- so many ways it can be used. I used Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush, and Crumb Cake inks for my chevrons.

SU Remembering Your Birthday with Legos

rs119

When I saw the retrosketches # 119  this week, all I could think about was Legos. Although my boys are 23 and 26, I have all their Legos packed for their kiddies some day. A friend of my husband kept all his boys’ toys packed away for his grandchildren and pulled them out when it was time for them to play. I knew after the investment in every set- Star Wars, Pirates, Construction Vehicles- it would be a smart idea to keep the Legos with their instructions packed away. It was pretty easy. However, my daughter’s Barbies never got the same treatment- she just gave them away one day!

Here is the card I made to save for a little guy someday

or maybe….for one of my big guys’ birthdays this year!

SU Remembering Your Birthday Legos final

I really like the SU Word Bubbles Framelits but think they need to be on a certain kind of card. I think one fit perfectly on this card.  Popping it up off a solid colored cut out really gives it dimension.
