SU Geometrical with a Sneak Peek at SU Four Feathers

I mistakenly thought the SU Geometrical stamp set was retired until I saw the post at Stampin’ Up Only Challenges #103– Make it Geometrical. When I went to grab for it (for the first time) I noticed that it was not marked with a little circle on the case indicating to me a retired set. Yipee!- I figured if the stamp set was called “Geometrical” I should get some ink on it for the SUO #103 Challenge.

I saw the STRIKING colors Tangelo Twist and Tempting Turquoise at ColourMe #33 this week and went to work.

SU Geometrical with Four Feathers SUO

I stamped a bunch of triangles in the two ColourMe colors and punched them out with the Triangle Punch. I then laid them out on a piece of scotch tape and mounted them on Basic Black card stock. My intention was to grunge it up but I was just smitten with all the white space and left it clean. I wanted to add some little something to embellish it, and thought the patterns would go well with my new SU Four Feathers coming soon in the NEW Holiday Catalog! And again, so easy to cut with the coordinating framelits.

All my black SU buttons were either too big or looked goofy so I used a SU Vintage Faceted Button to ground my feathers. At first, I tied SU White baker’s twine in the button but it just faded in so I dyed my white baker’s twine with some of my Memento Tuxedo Black ink refiller. The black twine stood out, however, I noticed in the photo that the vintage button reflected some of the Tangelo Twist ink and looks a bit yellowed. In person, it looks so clean and clear complementing the white space nicely.  A few black candy dots finished off the card.

I am trying to remember to decorate the inside of my cards even if it is just a wee bit. I did some quick masking and had a little color inside:

  3. CIndy, this is fantastic! I love it! The colors look great in the geometric pattern! I really like the feathers and the way you colored your twine with ink is genius! I hope you don’t mind if I CAS your card! SO happy you joined us at Colour Me this week! Thank you for the inspiration! XX

  4. What a great geometric card, Cindy! The black mattes add such depth to the card and I’m loving your use of the Vintage button. I find it difficult to implement those buttons without them overpowering the image; but, you’ve done it beautifully. The inside of the card looks great too! Thanks for joining us at SUO this week!
