SU Christmas Pines

November 11, 2016

Here are two more great swaps I got in Atlanta. The first one was one I made from a shoebox swap- you go to the table, get in the box, and make the card on display- it is really fun! You can see the one I made for others HERE. I just do not know who created this card. I do not remember a name associated with the swap as I took photos of other swaps with names displayed with them.  So, if this is your card- please, please comment so I can give you credit!!

I truly loved the white on white design of this card. Layering the Gently Falling panel with the oval cut out over the Woodland embossed panel was lovely. I thought the pine boughs die cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper was a great element as well. The pine cones and the bird and bow just stand out against the white base. I will add that the designer did sponge the birch trees in Soft Suede but I knew I would mess it up so I just went with white and added some Wink of Stella to my trees:) Her card was really neat with the brown trees though!

I really liked the one below by Pat Brown as well. The Gold Foil die cut pinecones are so elegant with the Red Glimmer Paper bow. The Pine Bough embossing folder is just a fabulous tool to dress up a background- a must have for holiday cards! Add some Candy Cane Lane Designer Series paper with some Real Red 3/4″ Stitched Ribbon, and your card is done! I really liked how she left a 1/2″ border around her white panel, too:)

SU Holly Jolly Greetings

November 9, 2016

Over the next few days, I am going to show some pretty swaps I received in Atlanta last weekend.

The first one was from my sweet friend Sarah Rigby who I got to hang out with all weekend. I just love how Sarah used the SU Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set in the Annual Catalog p. 34- my photo just does not do it justice- it is bold but soft and oh, so Sarah- full of texture and glitz!

The layer of vellum on the focal circle is so pretty and steps this card up- Sarah is all about stepping up a card. She is always teaching me something- we can relate being  retired homeschool moms:)

SU Pretty Kitty

November 6, 2016

My best friend, Wendy, lost her cat, and I wanted her to know how sorry I was for her loss. … not only does this card convey my feelings for Wendy but also the feelings she had for her beloved kitty that was with her for almost 20 years.

I used the adorable SU Pretty Kitty in a simple layout using the Layering Circles Framelits. I actually could have made a smaller border around the white circle with the Layering Circles framelits (which is one reason I love the new Layering Circles) but on this card, I preferred a larger amount of Bermuda Bay to show.  I colored the image with my SU Blendabilities … sorry, they are discontinued, however, the image could be colored with SU Blender pens and ink or your favorite coloring medium. Hopefully, the alcohol markers will make a come back some day!

I flipped the sketch a quarter turn to the left , and I am sharing it with the crew over at Stamp Ink Paper for their Sketch Challenge #72.

My van is packed, and I am off to Atlanta for the Stampin’ Up Onstage event Friday through Sunday then on my way back to my sweet stamping group in Pittsburgh! I wanted to share the swaps I am taking to share with other demonstrators in Atlanta…I just fell in love with the SU Seasonal Bells stamp set as I played around with it…so easy to stamp and punch out!
