Paper Crafters May Sampler 2014- “Thrice in Design”

PCS May 2014 smal

The designers at Paper Crafters Sampler put together a fun, yet challenging, sampler this month that offers three times more flair than the previous issue. The May 2014 issue, “Thrice In Design”, features design projects with trio’s, three’s, and third’s in mind.  Each project simply had to contain “3” of something, be it images, layers or shapes. This month’s template is also designed with the trio concept in mind; the Pocketed Triptych.

Here is a sneak peek of my project…

SU Perfect Pennants with Positively Chevron

The last week has been a whirlwind with my daughter’s graduation from college with a nursing degree (in the middle with the medal), two kids moving back in for the summer to a “downsized” home with their older brother visiting who has lost his room (he is sleeping in my stamping room!), and getting ready to head to my son’s girlfriend’s law school graduation in Florida this Saturday. BUSY but totally blessed by the chaos. But…I could not neglect my blog any longer so I played along with the Colour Q # 241 challenge.

I used the shiny gold from this year’s Sale-a-Bration Good as Gold card kit- it is really sharp looking but acts like a mirror when you are photographing it! It took quite some time to get a photo without my reflection in it (you can see a tad on the lower right tip of the pennant)…

SU Hearts a Flutter with Itty Bitty Banners

Heidi’s challenge this week at the Friday MashUp #159 involves stencils and retiring stamps.
fm159
Here’s your Mashup Challenge:
Create a project using “Stencils.”
Create a project with a “Retiring Stamp.”
Or
Mash it up and create a project with ” a Stencil and a Retiring Stamp.”
I looked up the definition of stencil and found this:
sten·cil
ˈstensəl/
noun
  1. a thin sheet of cardboard, plastic, or metal with a pattern or letters cut out of it, used to produce the cut design on the surface below by the application of ink or paint through the holes.

So, I made a stencil for my retiring stamp from SU Hearts a Flutter that is on the Weekly Deals this week! I lightly sponged Coastal Cabana ink inside the stencil made from the SU Hearts a Flutter framelits after I stamped the fancy scalloped heart in Real Red ink. It gave it a nice soft feel to coordinate with the distressed look of the stripes from the Fresh Prints DSP.
