SU Embellished Ornaments with Delicate Ornaments Thinlits

August 14, 2015

Some more inspiration from the upcoming new Holiday catalog…Look how beautiful these ornaments are! Cut out with the Delicate Ornament Thinlits, it certainly has a WOW factor. The sentiment is from the new SU Embellished Ornaments stamp set. These thinlits cut out a “see through” ornament- I put white cardstock behind each one so the Old Olive one sat on top of the red one. Vellum or another color behind each one would be fabulous as well.

SU Delicate Ornament Thinlits Die

I changed up the catalog sample by grounding a white panel embossed with the new SU Gently Falling embossing folder with a strip of Real Red cardstock on the bottom. Placing the embossed panel on the front of the card instead of embossing the whole card front allows for a place to neatly tuck away the silver cording that the ornaments hang on. My cording is not SU but there is a new thin trim with metallic shine coming out. You can bet it is on my next order!

I also added some SU Rhinestones to the middle of the ornaments. The larger one is leftover from a few years ago but wait until you see the new Iced Rhinestone Embellishments:)

Hope this gets you excited for the new Holiday Catalog fun!

SU Sparkly Seasons with SU A Little Something

August 12, 2015

The cool August nights with the crickets chirping remind me that fall is quickly approaching. Last night my husband and I along with my daughter and her boyfriend went driving through the countryside with endless soybean and cornfields on both sides of us. The cornfields reminded me of the “corn mazes” that have become like mini fall fairs each year all around Western PA -actually across the USA. They usually have them with pumpkin patches around Halloween decorated with jack-o-lanterns on hay bails with the smell of warm apple cider in the air.

And…I have to say I was pretty spooked one year when I got lost in one!

I used the new SU Sparkly Seasons to create this fun Halloween card inspired by the new Holiday catalog. Since I used my 2” circle punch to create the hole for my pumpkin to peek through and my corner rounder punch to round the crumb cake panel,  I thought I would share it with the gang at The Friday Mashup #220 this week.

You will LOVE this new set coming out- fun snow globe images of a ballerina, nutcrackers, snowmen, and pumpkins. You can also make a hanging ornament!  I used the the new SU Seasonal Frame Thinlits to die cut the fun SPOOKY greetings out of new SU black glimmer paper!
The thinlits cut out the words spooky, snow, grateful, and falala along with other accessory pieces to match the stamp images.

The creepy little spiders and the inside sentiment come from the new SU A Little Something stamp set that has 9 stamp images covering the fall and winter holidays with Thinking of You, too.
It will be bundled with the new Square Pillow Box Thinlits die.
Yea! The die set has 8 dies that cut out the box and fun tags with little cut outs.

The new Holiday Catalog will be out on September 1st!

I will have some more sneak peeks coming up:)

SU Sprinkles of Life

August 8, 2015

I had the SU Sprinkles of Life stamp set on my desk and needed a little inspiration so I decided to check out Mojo Monday #409
I am glad I did since there was a fun sketch by Julee Tilman!

I love when a DSP has a bunch of colors in it so I can use each one! Bermuda Bay, Watermelon Wonder, Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush, Pool Party, and even Tip Top Taupe made it on this card- will it end up a birthday card, a thank you, or a just because?
The sentiment leaves the decision wide open.
Oh, and I love those White Perfect  Accents, don’t you?

Here’s a look at the stamp set:

SU No Bones About It

August 6, 2015

I am sure you have seen the cool Corner Fold or Corner Flip Fold cards out there…so many people have created beautiful cards using this technique. I set out to find out “who” originally made it but that was a chore…so credit goes to all the wonderful crafters- and there are a slew of them- who  inspired me to make one. When perusing around the internet, I saw a lot of  gorgeous floral cards and very few masculine or children’s card so I challenged myself to make one.

I wanted to share this card with the gang over at Stamp Ink Paper

SIP-Any-Challenge-8
for their Designer’s Choice Challenge # 8.

I used  the SU No Bones About It stamp set with all of the 2014-16 In Colors- Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, Lost Lagoon, and Tangelo Twist  with Crumb Cake as my card base grunged up with the SU Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.
I doubled up on the Little Letters Thinlits RAWR to give a little extra texture…

SU No Bones About It Corner Fold Front Card

SU No Bones About It Corner Fold Inside

I made a template to keep to remind me how to make this simple card.
Now, if it gets lost in the rubble…it will be on my blog:)

Corner Fold Template

Score your 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ cardstock into portrait style at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side.

  • Place the Stampin’ Trimmer upside down with the sliding ruler on the left and the 1″ mark closest to you.
  • Open the card and slide the front of the card in Portrait position (like if the card was closed but it is actually opened so you don’t cut through the back) over to the right side and line up with the 3″ mark on the Stampin’ Trimmer.
  • Place the trimmer blade at the 2 1/2″ mark on the sliding ruler and cut upward to the 4 7/8″ mark.

*********************************************

Corner Fold Template Landscape

  • Now turn your card a quarter to the right so it is in the landscape position (again, like if it was closed but actually it is open so you don’t cut through two layers) and slide the right side over to the 3″ mark again.
  • This time, place your trimmer blade on the 3″ mark and cut downward to the 5/8″ mark. (You will see that the 3″ mark lines up at the corner with the lower point of the cut you made previously ).
  • Now you just push through the cut corner from the front and it will flip over.
  • I found to keep the fold straight on the front,  it was helpful to line up the flipped edge part  with the fold line as a reference point. I then used my bone folder to press that part down near the fold first and then the lower one on the right side of the front of the card. Using a bone folder really finishes the folds nicely.
  • The white stamped panel on the flip fold is a 2 1/2″ square. The Blackberry Bliss border is a 2 3/4″ square.
  • The inside white panel is 3 3/4″ x 5″ bordered by a  Blackberry Bliss panel cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″.

Ever see a stamp set and wonder…hmmm, will I use this?
That is what I thought about the SU No Bones About It set. Now, I can see a bunch of possibilities with it! Look at all the images you get- and you can put the skeleton inside the dinosaur images with ease because it is a photopolymer stamp set!

Can’t you just see this as a Valentine’s Day card with pink and red dinosaurs with the sentiment
“No Bones About It…You’re Great!”

I feel a card coming on…
