I created a Birthday Gift Card Holder Ensemble!

Gift giving has changed over the years…today, one of the common ways of giving includes the “Gift Card.” It is a great way to show friends and family you know what they like or need, but are giving them the opportunity to pick it for themselves. You can jazz up and personalize a gift card by packaging it in a unique and festive holder. This tutorial includes four birthday themed gift card holders using the Carousel Birthday Suite. The designs can be easily transformed into various other themes as needed.

Step 1
Score an 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” piece of Bermuda Bay Cardstock at 4-1/4” on the 8-1/2” side to create a portrait card. Trim 2” off the front of the card where it opens leaving a front that measures 2-1/4” from the score fold. See photo of Gift Card Holder.
Step 2
Cut a 6” x 6” piece of Bermuda Bay/So Saffron harlequin patterned paper from the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack (DSP) so that you have a 2” x 5-1/4” and a 4” x 5-1/4” that fit together side by side. Using SNAIL Adhesive, adhere the 2” x 5-1/4” piece of DSP to the front 2-1/4” x 5-1/2” panel of the card and the 4” x 5-1/4” piece to the inside of the card.
Step 3
Score a 7” x 4-1/4” piece of Early Espresso Cardstock at 3-1/2” on the 7” side. Fold it into a card and adhere it using SNAIL Adhesive to the center of the inside of the Bermuda Bay card on the DSP with the opening on the left. See the photo of Gift Card Holder #1.
Step 4
On a piece of 3-1/4” x 4” Very Vanilla Cardstock, stamp the ferris wheel image from the Carousel Birthday Stamp Set at the top of the 3-1/4” side using the Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad leaving room for the sentiment at the bottom. Stamp I Love When Your Birthday Comes Around from the Carousel Birthday Stamp Set below the ferris wheel using the Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin’ Pad. Adhere this panel using SNAIL Adhesive to the front of the Early Espresso Cardstock card.
Step 5
Stamp another ferris wheel on a 3-1/4” square using the Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad. Using the Layering Circles Framelits Dies, cut out just the ferris wheel circle using the 2-5/8” circle die. Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, adhere this circle to the center of the ferris wheel on the card lining up the supporting legs of the ferris wheel. See step 5. Place a gold enamel dot from the Metallic Enamel Shapes in the center of the ferris wheel. See step 5.
Step 6
Using the Up and Away Thinlits Dies, die cut six cupcake bottoms from Early Espresso Cardstock. Die cut three cupcake tops from Bermuda Bay Cardstock and three cupcake tops from So Saffron Cardstock. Adhere each cupcake with its top and bottom onto the stamped cupcakes on the ferris wheel using Stampin’ Dimensionals. *I found it easiest to put half of a Stampin’ Dimensional on the popped up ferris wheel itself where each cupcake is stamped and then build the two cupcake pieces using the dimensional as the adhesive.
Step 7
On a piece of 3-1/4” x 4” Very Vanilla Cardstock that will go inside the smaller Early Espresso card that is adhered to the Bermuda Bay card base, stamp Because Spoiling You Is So Much Fun from the Carousel Birthday Stamp Set using the Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin’ Pad. Adhere this panel using SNAIL Adhesive inside the Early Espresso card as seen in the photo of Gift Card Holder #1.
Step 8
Die cut a gift card envelope out of the same harlequin pattern DSP using the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlits as shown in step 8- note the direction of the harlequin pattern matches the front and inside of the card. You will see that the top and bottom are cut off but are evenly cut off. Adhere the envelope together using Tear & Tape as shown in step 8a. Adhere the envelope with Tear & Tape to the back of the front of the Early Espresso card. To make the piece that will pull out of the envelope with the gift card on it, punch out a half circle notch using the ¾” Circle Punch on the shorter side of a 2-1/2” x 3-7/8” piece of Bermuda Bay Cardstock. Adhere the gift card with a touch of Snail Adhesive so it is flush with the bottom of the slider and slide it into the envelope.
Step 9
Mask off the words Life and Have Fun from the Enjoy sentiment in the Suite Sentiments Stamp Set by placing scotch tape over the words. Using the Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin’ Pad, ink up the sentiment. Remove the scotch tape mask, and stamp Enjoy on the 1-1/4” x 4” Very Vanilla Cardstock. Die cut the word Enjoy using the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits keeping more space open for a bow on the beginning of the word. Tie a bow with two 10” pieces of Pool Party/gold and So Saffron/gold Baker’s Twine from the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit. Adhere the bow with a glue dot to the side of the die cut with the “E” in Enjoy. Adhere the Enjoy tag to the top of the envelope hanging vertically as shown on the card.
