SU Too Kind

Played with some new SU colors and stamps today- SU Too Kind with Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, and Baked Brown Sugar ink. I added some bling with pearls to this CAS card to play along with the amazing Anne Marie Hile’s The Paper Players Challenge # 150. I  really like these “sketchy” sets- helps me to not be so OCD with perfectly stamped images- anyone else have that issue? Uh-oh, I see a little  misalignment….breathe, Cindy, it’s okay…

SU Summer Silhouettes

What a fun time I had last night with my stamping friends- we all had dinner and class with our friend, Stacey Ailes. She prepared some beautiful cards for us, and I got to use the sweet SU Summer Silhouettes stamp set. I love it!   I like how she showed us to use a white gel pen to accent the smaller flowers. I was inspired to  design a card using this set and decided the ColourQ Challenge # 194 was a great starting point. I did not have any SU Poppy Parade ink but I did have some Poppy Parade Polka Dot DSP so I used it to ground my image. The think the SU firm foam ink pads stamp darker than my old  linen ones and this time was no exception- it looks as if the DSP and the lacey flower are the same color! But, those flowers are indeed Calypso Coral.  I used another new favorite sentiment from the new catalog found in the SU Simply Sketched set- a hostess gift with a qualifying order.

Stampin’ with my nephews…

I had some wonderful visitors to my stamping center yesterday. My nephews Cullen and Carson wanted to make some cards like Aunt Cindy so we headed down to have some fun. I was AMAZED how patiently they waited as we looked over the stamp sets, got out our inks, and started stamping. They knew exactly what they wanted to do, and I showed them how to make their cards. Cullen (11)  made the owl card and wanted WOOHOO on it. He used the Big Shot to cut the ovals and make the chevron embossed background. Carson (7) just meticulously stamped his images and colored them. He put each leaf exactly where he wanted it. He even learned the trick to hiding a smudge! I was so proud of them;)

Of course, the big brother wants you to know his stool was lower than his little brother so that’s why  he looks bigger in the picture! He is such a great big brother always watching out for his younger brother.

Stampin’ Up MDS2 to the Rescue…

When I saw CASology’s # 48– Cue Word YELLOW- I could not stop thinking  of the yellow yolk of an egg! It must have been because I ate an egg sandwich for lunch three days this week- you know it’s quick and easy! So, I thought some more and came up with this little sentiment- but contrary to what my husband thinks, I do not have a stamp that says “So egg-cited for you!” I have a few Congrats stamps but none were large enough.  MDS2 to the rescue- I just designed the words for my card- printed two cards, cut out the CONGRATS and layered it with black over the one card. Then I drew a free hand egg white, cut it out, and layered black behind it and popped it off the card with SU dimensionals. I sponged the yolk with some ink and it  looks cool in person. Maybe someone will make a die/framelit for a fried egg someday…
